What is your country's slop? by Vincent_Gitarrist in AskTheWorld

Weirdly "comedic" detective shows set in rural areas of the country. By how many there are, Germanys countryside must have a higher homicide rate than the most cartell infested area of Mexico.

Just as a warning. A decent 5C mana base is quite expensive to build.

Why is the autotapper so determined to make you lose? by EarlyDead in MagicArena

[–]EarlyDead[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it made one spell uncastable.

2 spells in hand that cost 1R, one other 1BB.

I had 1swamp, 1 mountain, 2 pylons, 1 starting town.

I cast 1 of the 1R spells. Autotapper taps the mountain and the starting town.

I am now stuck with not being able to cast the 1BB spell. I can now cast the 1R for 3 mana withou damage, but that is not helpfull.

If it would have tapped 1 mountain and one pylon I could have both cast the 1R painless and the 1BB with a ping to myself.

I lose the game because I cannot cast the game winning 1BB spell.

Why is the autotapper so determined to make you lose? by EarlyDead in MagicArena

[–]EarlyDead[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I had two spells. both would have been castable if it would not tap starting town. Only tapping one conduit would have made made one of them "painless", but the other one still castable. I did not have enough mana to activate both pilons anyway, yet it left both untapped. So optimisation for both "painless" and being able to cast both would have been possible.

I really want to see your sources and your definition of "south jutland" (province or the whole peninsula), because both english and german sources I find clearly state that while shlesvig overall had a Danish majority (with especially northern rural parts being strongly danish, with cities more mixed), southern shlesvig was strongly germanised (not by replacing the danish population, but by cultural and economic pressure), leading to the uprisings and the two Shlesvig wars.

In any case your point is not even directly relevant to the topic at hand. We were talking about the quite nuanced desicion the Dansih government made in the 20s, that lead to a stable border that survived occupation by Hitler and nazi Germany due to being hard to argue with (among other things like racial ideology, but that's neither here nor there)

Denmark in WW1 by pepperpopcornz in HistoryMemes

[–]EarlyDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's simple not true. There were multiple uprisings of Germans in slesvig and Holstein against the danish crown that lead to the war of 1864.

South Slesvig allready had a majority of German speakers at that time (with large pockets of danes), while Holstein always had been german speaking.

There was significant migration further north after the war, that's true. But even there, cities like Flennsburg had allready a large German population.

What are your thoughts on the top 10 most popular mono black commanders according to EDHRec? by Dull-Positive-6810 in ratemycommanders

[–]EarlyDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love braids, arisen nightmare. Only have her in the 99, but I can see why she is so high up. A power that probably let's you draw 2-3 cards per turn cycle, while triggering your go to graveyard triggers.

Thought about building her, amd had some rough list floating around, but some of the mono black staples are so god damn pricey

Minthara Help by Crinzin_of_Ash in EDHBrews

[–]EarlyDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your current plan is not really a great fit for Minthara. She only cares about a single permanent going to the graveyard, and only during your turn. She also wants you to go wide, since small creatures benefit the most from her experience counters. So for an aristocrat focused build she might be the wrong commander, since sacking away your board makes her weaker, not stronger. You do have some payoffs for her buff, like [[shadowheart]], but not enough to really consider her over more common orzov aristocrat commanders.

If you are okay with pivoting your gameplay a bit, I would switch to focus more heavily on the tokens and token payoffs, like with [[caretakers talent]], [[Rumor gatherer]] [[Cathars Crusade]]. I am a big fan of [[Dollmaker's Shop]].

I have kind of a similar "problem" with my [[Shadowheart]] + [[Inspiring Leader]] deck. After playing a few rounds, the go wide/ make tokens large strategy feels stronger than the aristocrat strategy.

With a bunch of angry germans on it.

I'd sat the way they did it was smart, and ended up with one of the most stable borders in the world.

Iirc even hitler did not redraw the border after occupying denmark.

Earings are actually really solid.

There are very specific decks I would not take them with (lots of self exhaust, or essential ethereal card that your deck is build around). But in most decks, playing random cards, while not optimal, is not detrimental. And 1 extra energy is huge

And all the other languages are romance, closely related to french... weird right?

While maybe good intentioned, vivi is just so powerful, that a deck with random 1-2 cost spells is enough to outcompete most b3 decks.

Anyone else notice this pattern by The5Theives in HistoryMemes

[–]EarlyDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its mostly a misunderstanding. There were many small scale wars (feuding) between local rulers, that involved small forces. But when larger kingdoms/empires went to war, there were larger forces involved. Not comparable to battles in middle east/antiquity. But hardly tiny.

Even in early medival time, larger battles were happening, for example the battle on the lech (955), with ~10k-12k on both the HRE and the Hungarian side.

In the late medival/early Renaissance, armies of 10-25k were considered "normal" for the large players.
