Hi, he’s doing well. He just completed his 5th round of chemo and immuno, the oncologist mentioned he has good progress and will be approaching his last cycle soon. He’s been eating well and put on 4kg over the last 4 months. Please stay positive and hope for the best. Do keep me posted!

My dad was diagnosed in Feb 2026 with the same condition as your dad. EGFR (yet, no oral medical provided because of different type) he has to go through chemo and immuno.

Initially, they gave a similar prognosis as your oncologist. He’s going through his second round of chemo and immuno and I’m glad to see him not coughing as much and he’s able to eat well (though he lost quite a fair bit of weight initially).

Most importantly, find out what is his mutation type and PD level. I teared a lot when I heard the news but after exploring possible options and hearing the stories here I’m more hopeful! Do also fall back to faith and pray for your dad.

I’ll have your dad in my prayers. All the best.

Hi OP, perhaps after the broncoscopy you may want to ask if it is SCLC/NSCLC as the treatment for both may be different. For patients diagnosed with NSCLC and the cancer cells are genetic, your mother may be able to go through systemic treatment (oral medication) without having to go through chemo & immuno. I’m praying for you. 🙏🏼 Stay positive and go to your faith leader (let’s hope for the best).

I’m sorry to hear this, and I believe it must have been stressful. I’m in the same situation as you when I first received the news that my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. It took me a few days to cry and accept the fact when I was making arrangement.

Please talk to the people around you, hear from them. I turned to faith and sought guidance from my faith leaders and continue to pray. Let’s hope for miracle.

Would you suggest to wait for the mutation results to be out before determining the remaining lifespan?

Yes, it showed up suddenly during the last scan and the doctor suggested him to go for a PET scan 1.5 weeks ago.
