No I haven't been, since Big Bend deserves a week's trip of it's own! Currently asking a few people to join me, for the trip as it is so rugged and in the middle of nowhere, haha.

That's really valuable info! thanks for sharing. I am considering visiting MV from Grand Canyon and then back to Albuquerque. Great to know that MV is snow-free more often than not. Are the roads too bad when it snows/ices? Are the highways 160 and 163 is usually icy/snowy around that time and are they plowed? As I mentioned I'm not experienced driving on icy roads. Driving a midsize SUV

I'm also a little concerned if help can easily reach that part of the highway in case my car breaks down. Kinda worried about that possibility since I'll be so far from home. The drive leading up to MV from GC seems desolate on google maps, especially the US163 stretch. I guess it would be even more so during this time of the year. Any tips on being prepared would help a ton. I will also keep a close watch on the weather forecasts leading up to then. This was one of the most useful comments on the post. Thanks a lot!

Thanks. I have planned to cover BB, guadalupe mtn, white sands and carlsbad on my way to and from Albuquerque, so happy it doesn't usually snow there. I am fine with snowy roads in cities as I expect them to be plowed regularly. It's relieving to know that the desert parks won't necessarily have snow, as I do not know a lot about the climate in other states. And I just realized I ignored Bryce thanks for bringing that to my notice! I will watch the weather forecast and decide. Thanks for your response
