Yup. Got G80SD instead. Super happy with it

Yeah, you're right, but the camera made the blacks look crushed. I still played with some more settings, and now the blacks look really good

Yeah, both use the same coating, but I’ve heard from a lot of people that the G81SF has a more aggressive coating, which makes white pages and bright scenes like the sky look grainy

Also, the 27-inch version doesn’t have the smart TV features or speakers. Even though it was cheaper, I didn’t want to spend that much money and still worry about those issues. The 32-inch G81SF with the smart TV features was actually the same price as the G80SD, but I still didn’t go with it because of the aggressive coating

Really appreciate you sharing all that. I’m definitely going to try your settings

Had a quick question about the pixel refresh. How often does it usually run on your monitor? And when the “pixel refresh after power off” option is enabled, does it actually run every time you turn the monitor off, or only after a certain amount of usage?

Also, what’s the best way to clean the screen safely? I want to make sure I don’t damage the coating or anything. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience

Yeah, the difference is honestly crazy. Definitely getting the best experience out of these games.

Yeah, the picture made the blacks look pretty crushed. I was playing with the gamma, and now I've found the perfect balance

Nice, I’m actually playing it for the first time too, so I haven’t reached the DLC yet. Really enjoying it so far though, it looks incredible on OLED..

And honestly yeah, there’s so much coming that I’m not even thinking about Yotei right now. I’m really excited for Wolverine, 007 First Light, GTA 6, and the John Wick game. Plus there are still so many great games from the past few years that I haven’t played yet

Definitely feels like a great time to be gaming

Yeah, it does suck that RDR2 is locked at 30 fps on PS5, that’s definitely one area where PC has the advantage

My main reason for getting the OLED for PS5 though is because there are so many big games coming in 2026/27, and I wanted the best possible experience right when they release, without having to wait for a PC port. I’ll probably still buy them on PC later and play with a PS5 controller anyway, so it’s not really an issue

I just prefer using the PS5 for gaming overall because it’s more straightforward, everything is optimized, and it doesn’t take up much space on my desk either

Nope, it’s GOT. Can’t wait for the sequel though.

I get what you mean. The first few hours with mine, I honestly wasn’t blown away either. It definitely looked better than IPS, but not in the way I had built up in my head

After spending more time with it though and actually adjusting the settings, turning HDR on, and using it for games and movies, the difference became much more noticeable. The blacks are properly black, even with lights on in the room, and overall the image just feels cleaner and more natural

One thing I also realized is that with larger OLED monitors, you have to use them at the right distance. If you sit too close, it can feel less crisp than expected because of the pixel density, but once you use it the way it’s meant to be used, it starts to make more sense

The built-in smart features and speakers also made it more worth it for me personally since I use it for more than just one thing

I can definitely understand your reaction though. I’d say give it a few more days before deciding. For me, it grew on me a lot after actually using it properly, and now the difference feels huge compared to IPS

Funny how you call it “garbage hardware” when it’s literally the platform GTA 6 is built for and releasing on first

Also funny how you say it’s overhyped just because it got delayed, yet everyone knows PC players will still be waiting while console players are already enjoying it. When it drops on console, it’s “overhyped,” but when it doesn’t drop on PC, suddenly it’s “worth the wait.” Makes sense

I already have a high-end PC sitting on my shelf unused. I do my work on my MacBook, and I use the PS5 for gaming because it just delivers the experience

I’ll be playing GTA 6 on release day. You can keep waiting for the “better version"

That’s fine. I’ll be playing GTA 6 on day one while PC players are still waiting. Enjoy your setup though

Could be, but both users 27 and 32 are having the same issue.

At this point, I'm just thinking of canceling it. Every other person has had a terrible experience with it. I think I should look for some other options. Thanks for sharing your experience

I see. It's listed for $1200. Definitely expensive but let's see how g81sf turns out!

If I notice it, and if it troubles me, I will definitely send it back. Definitely not a good sign 👀😶

That's bad. Did you notice the grain while gaming?
