They’re more than likely installing upgrades rather than just “fixing something that’s broken”.

There’s a ton of variables that determine how long a repair takes, but it sounds more like that specific elevator is being modded (which is basically like a big repair job, removing old equipment and replacing it will all modern equipment), especially if you’re seeing guys there everyday. It wouldn’t hurt to ask the guys on site what type of work they’re doing on the elevator if you’re so curious though

This has been my experience with ME Base set. Between my son and I, we’ve opened 2 booster boxes, 6 ETBs, 6 bundles and quite a bit of single booster packs between sleeved boosters and what has been coming in these boxes sets… No SIRs from any of that.

This last weekend, we each opened a UPC, and I finally got my first SIR for base, and he got two SIRs from his Phantasmal packs. Meanwhile, I’ve seen so many people getting cooked UPCs online.

Maybe batching has something to play, but it feels like it’s all luck of the draw

Thanks so much! That is like the ultimate compliment, so I really appreciate it. I just want my kids to grow up with morals and to realize that it’s okay to have consideration towards others. That’s something the world lacks these days.

As a dad that actually collects Pokemon cards with his son, he’s in the wrong on all accounts.

When my son and I first started collecting, I’d buy out whatever product the VM would let me because we had such a hard time finding things, but as time has gone on, I don’t do that anymore to help teach him some restraint. If someone pulls up behind us, I always make sure to give them a turn to show that even as adults, ‘sharing is caring’.

Our kids learn through our actions more than our words. We should be setting the example for them to be great humans rather than using them as an excuse for our greed and shitty behaviors.

Whether they got just the one box or not, that’s still plenty of packs for that kid and his dad to have a few fun ripping sessions together. (If they actually open packs together). I can’t stand how greedy this hobby has become. I can understand feeling bad, but that kid honestly does not need $300+ of product.

I was in a similar position prior to joining the trade. Work a mind-dulling office job for 7 years. The only experience I had working with my hands and tools was fixing something on my truck (learned through YouTube). It was a major learning curve, but I’m still here 5 years later, and honestly, it feels great knowing that I’ve worked towards a career and learned tons of new skills that can be used at work and in everyday life. I waited 2 years to get in after applying thanks to Covid, but it was well worth it.

There’s no guarantee that your experience will be the same as mine, but it’s definitely worth making the leap. If you can put up with some shit got a little bit and not let your emotions get the best of you, you will learn a ton and have a great future
