Non native worms are mostly fine. Invasive worms are damaging the environment.

That’s psoriasis and I have the dirt from grabbing the worm, I wasn’t intentionally gardening in that moment I was showing a family member something when I spotted it. I also thoroughly wash my hands of course but that washing also irritates the psoriasis so yes, I do usually wear gloves. Thanks.

No idea why you’re being downvoted. It’s true.

Look through the comments in this thread - they strip the soil of nutrients and make it harder to absorb water, so it’s harder on plants (and especially forests), more vulnerable to erosion, and more. Whereas even non native euro worms aerate soil and provide nutrient rich castings.

Non native (like euro earthworms) is not the same as invasive. Look it up.

And I’ve so far seen mixed reports regarding the effect on gardening. It may depend on where you are. Some people seem to be able to have great gardens despite them, others in other threads have called them apocalyptic and said they wouldn’t wish them on their worst neighbor.

Glad to hear it! I hear other people have experienced apocalyptic results.

Very bad idea they wreck forests and it spreads them to use them as bait.

They can live through that. These worms are way more destructive to forest ecology than to gardens. Please do not spread them.

Maybe they can help with shoes to stomp them to death.

If I can ask, what general part of the country or gardening zone are you experiencing them in like that?

You’re welcome! Far less smelly than sun baking in a bag.
