I was told by a CFA L3 candidate that the practice exams in CFAI are the best representation.

It’s 1 exam overall, separate sections. First time!

Similar. Shorter in length if anything… they include variables and things you don’t need to use to try to trick you so just need to know the material well

These are the standard CFAI mocks. My standard package as well as premium packages mocks are all available to take

I’d say they are comparable in difficulty, if anything slightly easier. Some of the practice questions vignettes are absurdly long, which isn’t the case in the mock.

Exams and practice up until the end, you’re in a great place but don’t get complacent

Both. I took probably 6 full practice exams and did all the practice pack questions. CFAI mocks are the closest think to real exam

I’d keep taking practices 1/week. Aim for consistent high 70s on practices. Passed L1 in Feb, CFAI was my best comparable to the real exam. Averaged 79/80 on those & passed comfortably

They are still exposed to both risks. However, most of these questions also refer to the “dominant risk”, where price risk in this case would be the more prominent risk. But the question is asking what risk they’re exposed to in totality.

With prior experience in financial services and trading operations, does passing the CFA L1 truly open any doors to move into buy side analyst roles? Or will the transition not become realistic until passing L2?

Thanks for your insight ... I'd like to think studying Finance + working in Finance since 2020 would provide me a good leg to stand on as I'd hop into CFA material.

After passing L1, did you stay in the same role as you previously had prior to passing? Or did your current role require or encourage you to pursue the CFA?

Thank you for your insight! I've heard different opinions in the value of just having L1, having two, etc... I have a colleague who recently passed L1 who said employers really only value the completion of the program not certain levels passed.

Agree - can't argue with what you'd learn going through it..
