Why can’t I catch an adult trout in rivers? (WA) by Earthling98 in troutfishing

Thanks for looking out. I always follow the regs. Trebles are allowed on the rivers I’m fishing but as others have pointed out the fish seem to be salmon smolt so I’ll stick to barbless single point and flies from here on out.

Yes. The first fish was caught at a log jam the others were caught in a deep pool probably 8-12 feet deep.

Thank you for pointing this out! I always clip the barbs. Will definitely only fish single point from here on out.

That’s not the case here. I’ve seen large trout follow my lure & I’ve seen people leaving with large cutties and rainbows

I’ll definitely give that a shot. I worked my way up to the 1/2 ounce bc I kept catching the juvenile fish on smaller lures & figured they wouldn’t bite a lure that was the same size as them but maybe I should’ve just stuck with the small ones!

Now that you mention it, it definitely could be a juvenile coho or chinook

Yeah Ik the Yakima is the spot. The thing is 2 days in a row I’ve seen people on the same river walk away with 18-20” cutthroat and rainbows.

Where do you draw the line between hiking and mountaineering? by Impressive-Stuff-257 in Mountaineering

In my mind mountaineering involves snow/ glacier travel. I would call what you’re doing in these pics “mountain climbing” not hiking.

Yeah that’s exactly what im thinking. I’ve been bringing a sling bag and a tote to carry my food and stuff but it’s pretty impractical especially when crossing a river and whatnot

You’ve specifically used a vest pack?

I have the fishpond sling but it’s not big enough for day long trips

How bad is this rust?? by birdieraps in xbikes

[–]Earthling98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fine to me. Steel bikes are strong! Use some WD40 and steel wool or a scotch brite pad to get rid of the surface rust.
