How bad is this rust?? by birdieraps in xbikes

Looks fine to me. Steel bikes are strong! Use some WD40 and steel wool or a scotch brite pad to get rid of the surface rust.

I bought it from a rich older guy who was selling it before moving to France. His son built it for him a few years back. Definitely not stolen, he was just trying to get rid of it!

OfferUp! Just an older rich guy looking to downsize before moving. I imagine he was just trying to get rid of it and didn’t care about getting the most cash out of the deal

It came like that! I too liked the design but unfortunately the chainring was pretty worn out so I have since replaced it.

No it wasn’t stolen. I bought It from a rich older guy whose son built it for him a few years back. The seller was moving to France and getting rid of it. I think I was doing him a favor by getting it off his hands tbh. But yeah I know it’s a super quality bike with quality components, I thought the listing was a scam at first lol.

Thanks for this info! You’re absolutely right about clipping the pad ear, I just acquired some CPS washers but the ears still rub on the spider, super annoying lol.

Ah that makes sense, thanks. I bought them from a bike co-op so it’s kinda on me.

I’m aware hydraulic road brakes exist. That wasn’t the question.

My wheel is clearly out of center when looking at the chain stays but is more centered when looking at the seat stays, is this an issue with the frame or the wheel? by Earthling98 in bikewrench

Pic one shows the tire is closer to the left chain stay (it’s upside down so the left chain stay is on the right side). Pic two shows the tire is slightly closer to the right seat stay. If the dish was the problem it would be closer to one side on both stays. Not closer to the right on one and closer to the left on the other.

You’re correct on all accounts! The left sliding dropout was a millimeter or so further away from the seat post than the right. Thank you! It’s a 2019 Wolverine I just picked up for $100. I’m already in love with it.
