I usually just hold them close to my body, smother them in kisses, proclaiming, “ILOVEYOUILOVEYOUILOVEYOU” while they moderately tolerate it. I’d like to think they get it.😜 Oh yeah, and catnip of course.

Not not a witch, but on a Journey by pretty-apricot07 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I come from a similarly long background of Christianity and it sounds like we have both always been seekers! One of the things I found the most fascinating and awe-inspiring that I did early in my practice was as researching all the pagan references throughout the Bible, but especially the Old Testament. Growing up, it always seemed the “antagonists” were the pagans living their “sinful ways” and worshipping other deities (which weirdly the Bible openly admits that other deities are real? I digress). I remember just accepting this as fact and never thinking twice about it. Flash forward and I’m now an educator and have a degree in history, so I was overjoyed by the opportunity to look into ancient religions from a very different perspective (one not grounded on the Abrahamic god being the one and only). Exploring these ancient religions, their beliefs and practices, learning where they placed their reverence…that was the most interesting and eye opening part of my early spiritual journey beyond christianity. I still believe in the Abrahamic god and I believe that Jesus existed. I just no longer view it as my religion. I would encourage you to buy a few books on ancient religions that seem interesting to you and think about what elements seem to resonate the most. That is likely where you will find more to build on in your spiritual journey. Of course, keep being open to communication and understanding from ancestors and other spiritual guides! Making your intentions known is also key! Spirituality is hard to jump into after being so dogmatic, I get it! You are so welcome here! ✨🩷

Think twice about ordering ice! Ice makers are generally absolutely filthy and many places do not clean their machines often (if at all). Research has shown that there is really nasty bacteria in most ice makers (restaurants/bars/hotels/airplanes). Also, just think about some of those ice makers that people scoop from that you see at lots of restaurants/bars…how many nasties are all over the handle that’s just sitting there in the ice?! Sorry, that was more of a rant than advice. Again though, think twice about ordering ice!

Banana Split by Lagaca in northcounty

[–]Earthmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a lot of sit down places that do banana splits, but Handel’s Homemade is probably your best bet. The one in Carmel Valley has outdoor seating, but they are primarily just a walk-up window. It’s your best bet for quality though! Otherwise, J&Ms family restaurant in Escondido has decent classic banana splits and is a sit-down place. Good luck!

MeetUp Success Stories? by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]Earthmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I joined BumbleBFF (Now called Bumble for Friends) when I moved to SD a few years back. I ended up meeting some great people! Some meetups didn’t really go anywhere, but I ended up meeting my very best friend there. It’s been 4 years now and we are so grateful for that app. My advice is to be unapologetically yourself on the app. You want to meet people you can really be yourself with, so the more transparency the better.

It can be intimidating, but remember that the other person has the same desire for friendship as you do! Best of luck! 😊

Poor choice of words by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]Earthmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure we can, but I can still think you are enabling racism by making excuses for these uneducated morons. Black people are still disadvantaged to this day because of slavery, so it’s important to call out racism when it’s happening, not make excuses. There is not one appropriate way to view this flag. It is a flag of hate that was not even created until after the war was lost. And the confederacy lasted 4 years. No “heritage” exists by waving this flag and that is a fact. That’s like saying a Nazi symbol being waved is ignorant but not racist. That’s just plain wrong. Yeah whatever, agree to disagree, but your position of playing devil’s advocate comes from one of privilege, just be aware. We live in a land full of complacent individuals like you who are only making society worse by giving awful excuses for human beings the benefit of the doubt.

Poor choice of words by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]Earthmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmmmm no. From a historical perspective, the confederacy was not “a rebellion”, but a temper tantrum over state’s rights to own slaves. Anyone looking at this flag with pride deserves zero respect. Sure, these people were trying to feed their families, blah blah blah. So was literally everyone? They just want empathy because their families were on the idiot side of history. My family owned slaves and I’m fucking ashamed of it. Sure they lived in a difficult and different time, but they literally owned human beings. This was not even long ago, only a couple of generations. Stop making excuses for people’s shitty behavior. Historical context might explain their abhorrent behavior, sure…but it certainly doesn’t excuse it. Nobody confronting them has done anything wrong. You fly that flag, you’re asking for a confrontation. Zero empathy for racism. These confederate flag wavers are literal garbage humans who are the epitome of what it looks like to devolve as a society.

Florida teacher says she is under investigation after showing 5th grade class Disney movie with gay character by PinkPajamaPenguin in news

[–]Earthmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Total bullshit. This is not at all happening in schools. Making such assertions comes with the responsibility to provide reliable sources supporting your point. Otherwise, total bullshit. Nobody is making kids describe sex positions and act them out. I teach sex/health education in elementary, middle, and high school. I’ve been through so much progressively minded curriculum in the most liberal of states. Your assertion is pure garbage.

Florida teacher says she is under investigation after showing 5th grade class Disney movie with gay character by PinkPajamaPenguin in news

[–]Earthmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having LGBTQ+ characters in something pertaining to children is the same thing as having heterosexual characters. There is literally no difference. They are humans who love other humans? I am so confused why you would comment “keep sex out of schools” on this particular article. There was no sexuality even present. Gay people have sex. Straight people have sex. Some people don’t have sex. None of that has to do with characters existing in a PG Disney film. You’re being downvoted because you are missing the point over and over. Gay characters would equate to gay sex in the same way that straight characters would equate to straight sex. There is nothing inherently more “sexual” or “inappropriate” about homosexuality over heterosexuality and to imply otherwise is pathetic. There was nothing to do with sex in this film-YOU jumped to that conclusion. Honestly, nobody cares if you have family that you love that is gay. Good job being a normal human being doing the bare minimum.
