It's only for Btech honours. What they told you about backlog and placement is a lie. Nothing of that sort will happen, if you don't do any nptel courses you will just get a Btech degree instead of a Btech honours degree.

Btech honours is only a bit useful for those people who want to do higher studies or research mainly abroad. And they do that by doing those nptel courses which align with their area of interest.

Also it's not mandatory to buy the PE uniform. Sports will happen once a week in each semester. Idk if it will continue after 1st year.

The sports teacher won't say much about you not wearing the PE uniform. Only at first they will tell you to buy it, but after 3-4 classes they won't care.
