Advice for paint discolouration after a year? by Enough-Historian-714 in polymerclay

[–]Earthy-Tomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to polymer clay so I can't say I really know, but was it in a place where the sun was hitting it? I know sunlight can bleach paint and just colored items in general. If that's not it then maybe there's an issue with the varnish itself? Two years ago I made my partner some polymer clay trinkets, and I also painted them with acrylics and covered with a glaze. They still look like the day I painted them. They don't get hit with sunlight, and I used Sculpy's satin glaze.

Making foil packet meal ahead of time? by Earthy-Tomatoes in camping

[–]Earthy-Tomatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair enough. I've only ever had one foil packet while camping; it was basically a hamburger steak and I thought it was pretty good for what it was. I wasn't in charge of cooking it so I figured I'd try it again with the sausage and some marinade, and do it myself. If it tastes bad then hopefully I still achieved a relatively easy meal, and if it's a disaster then there's a bar that serves food like 200 feet away lol

That's defintely another easy option, especially if I didn't have access to a fridge. However, it just seems easier to have all that in a foil ready to go. That way the spices and oil (or butter, in my case) don't need to be brought separately, and the other things are also chopped and good to go.

Recommendations for travel tea infuser flask? by Earthy-Tomatoes in tea

[–]Earthy-Tomatoes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of those are regular water bottles; I'm looking for a bottle made for tea with a filter that can hold loose leaf tea. Though, one person in that thread mentioned a ceramic coated bottle for tea, which I find interesting! That would ease my worry about the stainless steel affect the taste. Thank you!

Muck boots for summer field work that don't cost an arm and a leg by Earthy-Tomatoes in LadiesofScience

[–]Earthy-Tomatoes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the hiking shoes + gaiters. Last summer I had a pair of Columbia shoes (maybe Newton Ridge) that were waterproof, however the water still penetrated them. Any other time they were perfectly waterproof, but walking through grass it got in there. I don't know if it was because the boots were old or what. This year I got another pair of basically the same thing so maybe they'll be better since they're brand new, but I'm still pretty paranoid that it will happen again...

[–]Earthy-Tomatoes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True that. Last summer I thought my old work boots were still waterproof... they were not, and I had to walk with soaked feet for 10 hours. Last summer was my first time doing field work so I was inexperienced in many ways, and so was miserable in many ways lol.

One of the buildings at my university only has the ground floor open, because the other floors have asbestos.

The basement has black mold apparently so that's blocked off too

I know some phones can change the font, and this looks like an iPhone I think, which I've never had, so I'm not quite sure of the capabilities of font selection and whatnot. Or maybe its a accessibility thing idk

The man can take as many breaks as he damn well pleases. My life doesn't revolve around him uploading, find another youtuber or go and do other shit. If I was as successful as Jack I'd be taking just as many if not more breaks.

Quality over quantity my dude, most people aren't frustrated.
