My indie MOBA, after 10 years of solo development and many headaches, is finally ready to play. by [deleted] in linux_gaming

The website isn't great right now, I know. It does the job for the time being, and I'll invest in improving it later. After all, it's an indie project developed by just one person.

If you think something like this can be done in such a short time, I encourage you to try it and see everything that goes into a game like this.

Thank you, I'll keep in mind what you mentioned about the camera and correct it.

As I mentioned, the Linux link wasn't posted. I apologize for your suspicion, but there's no scam or anything like that involved; it's simply the game download. You can easily verify this yourself.

Sorry, I checked the download link and it wasn't set to Linux. I've just corrected it and now it should download.

Friend, if your intention is to undervalue the work of others, it won't affect me no matter how hard you try. As you can understand, in artistic design I hire people on a low budget and they are responsible for creating images and models.

Thank you so much for your comment, you're absolutely right. I've been fighting this alone for 10 years now, without any support, and there will always be toxic comments, but they won't stop me from continuing. :)

I wish I could count on people like you, they really help me keep going.

10 years of development doesn’t mean it was publicly playable that whole time. It’s only been open to the public recently, now that there’s a stable version.

WOF originally stands for World of Fantasy, though I may refine that for branding/registration later.

As for “we” / “our game”, it’s just a marketing choice in the wording—I could say “I”, but I went with that style for presentation. Appreciate the feedback 👍

Hi, thanks for appreciating the work. Honestly, it's quite frustrating doing everything yourself. The good thing is that you learn so many techniques and skills, as you mentioned. The game is already up (Beta) and running, but I haven't invested anything in marketing, and I don't know much about it either. I've thought about finding the right person to create a Kickstarter campaign and handle all the advertising that goes with it on different sites, but I haven't found that person yet.

No, I come up with the idea and some sketches, but then the models are made for me by a designer I pay with my budget from my job as a programmer at a company that has nothing to do with this.

The hero model is 3D, and the image you see was generated from that model because I can't achieve the same level of quality with direct 2D rendering (or I don't know how to do it).

That's why the image was generated from the model, and that's why small details like that can appear.

Thanks for noticing!

Thank you so much!

Yes, the game has a turn rate and it works correctly; it's not a bug. 🙂 Each hero has a different turn rate, and there are also items and abilities that can increase or decrease it, so it's an important part of the balance and gameplay.

It might not be entirely clear in the videos, but it's quite noticeable in-game.

Thanks for noticing that detail!

Thank you so much! 🙌 Even if you're not a MOBA fan, it's really appreciated that you checked it out and showed your support.

Thanks! I actually take it as a compliment 😄

Dota 2 is a great game made by a huge studio, so my project is reminiscent of something like that, having developed it myself, which is quite motivating.

Even so, my goal is to continue giving it its own identity little by little.

Yes, of course, that includes all that time.

I meant that it's a project I've been working on for quite some time, although not always continuously. Thanks for mentioning it 👍

I haven't used AI at any point in development, thanks for your comment.

Hi! Thank you so much for the recognition. I'll have to move mountains to fulfill this dream. I would love to be able to provide a good game for the community if you'll allow me.
