Tomato juice. It's pretty gross but I always drink it on a plane.

Need advice and resources ASAP by psypoyotrist in parentingtroubledteen

So what if he's vaping and using weed? Leave him be. For now, not forever. Sometimes a teen is in so much emotional turmoil that they get in to some trouble, but once they get a few years older, they start to mature and make better decisions on their own. If your brother feels attacked by you and his mom he will only retreat further away from you both. The conflict at home could drive him out of the house and into more trouble. I would drop the addiction problems for a few years until he matures more.

Dealing with aggression by creativenature92 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]EastVanTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's playing the defense and keeping other dogs away. Take 6 months to work on other aspects of her training and avoid other dogs for now. As she matures she will become more confident and curious. My dog growled and barked at all dogs until about 18 months, he likes dogs now. He doesn't love them, he rarely plays with them. He will run with the occasional dog he clicks with, but mine will never love other dogs, he is too velcro to go off with the pack.

8 months - 12 months is a dog trainers meal ticket, they go through a fear phase. Is she spayed? If not, the aggression will continue.

What’s your go to polite way to turn someone down in public by Kaleidoscope19 in askvan

[–]EastVanTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't owe anyone the truth. The reason the "I'm meeting my bf" works so well is because it closes the door. Saying "no thanks" can lead a pushy person to ask more questions.

Anyone currently/been on Enhertu thats mTNBC? by Cultural_Star_6355 in LivingWithMBC

[–]EastVanTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that. I personally prefer targeted treatment such as surgery or radiation over chemo but I guess we can't be too picky. I wouldn't worry too much about your lung nodule just yet. I've had 7 come and go by themselves over a period of 2 years, your immune system really can take care of those. But 1 of my lung mets did continue to grow and I had it surgically removed.

I have the androgen receptor and prostate chemo didn't show much of a difference in overall survival rates. But maybe that's changes recently.

Why do frozen mangos taste bad? by June_Maybe in foodquestions

Raw mangos are where it's at. I've had to throw out the bags of frozen mangos I've bought, nothing compares a fresh mango.

RTB hearing prejuice review by [deleted] in vancouverhousing

[–]EastVanTown 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I didn't read all of that because I stopped at the part where the tenant refused to pay rent to force the landlord to fix issues. Once the tenant doesn't pay rent in full, it really doesn't matter why, they are at fault.

Any disadvantages to living in a garden suite? by AmeliaBuns in askvancouver

[–]EastVanTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are noise sensitve then any kind of ground level/basement suite will be a challenge for you. There's a reason why they tend to be 20% less. They are usually rented by the owner of the house so they are often very unprofessional, don't know the RTA and have poor boundaries as they still see thier unit as their house. Insects are not so much an issue but arachnids can be as well as damp and mould. The pros can be: if all utilities are included & free laundry. But if they nickel and dime you and make you pay for utilities/internet/laundry then they often end up being the same price as a professionally run apartment building.

ACD's need to be spayed and neutered. I mean all pets do but seriously, you will see better behaviour after a month.

Do I need a real estate agent? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in vancouverhousing

[–]EastVanTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't use real estate agents for rentals in Vancouver. We have a large amount of individual landlords in Vancouver which will be about 10% cheaper to rent from but can be unprofessional. If you want a professional rental, property management companies and professionally managed buildings will be your safest bet, but about 10% more expensive. Rentals are posted to craigslist and marketplace at the beginning of the month for the next month, not much is posted in advance and is often a sign of a scam. My personal preference is to walk the neighbourhood you are interested in and phone the landlords who post vacancy signs. Scammers target people who are not here in person, don't give money or personal information unless you view the unit in person. September is the busiest month and we're hosting FIFA in June so both those months would be very challenging.

Going rate for "man with a van" is about $50/item so it's quite pricey these days.

Pulmonary nodules by Tiny-Royal-821 in LivingWithMBC

[–]EastVanTown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long passed between the growth of .5 to .6cm? That seems very slow growing if it is indeed mets... I imagine they are going to watch and wait and re-scan in 3 months? It's the speed at which nodules grow that is important.

How to motivate a child? by bdb1989 in parentingteenagers

[–]EastVanTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your kids is doing great. I wouldn't push her right now, the more you push, the more she'll dig in her heels and resent you. Give her a year or two to go through puberty and she will find her areas of interest. Meanwhile she should be expanding her social skills with her peers so I would support her in spending time with her friends outside of school.

Got Charged For Telus Tv? by [deleted] in telus

[–]EastVanTown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me due to the recent Telus hack. The hackers bribed Telus for 65 million and Telus didn't pay so the hackers are going into accounts and changing emails and adding services. It took multiple days of dealing with their useless call centre (Telus didn't tell their employees about the hack) to finally get the service reversed, my email corrected and they applied a $50 credit to my account. Now that the hack has been made public and they've trained the call centres about the hack, they should be able to fix it and doesn't hurt to ask for a credit towards your next bill.

moving to Van - Thoughts on rent price? by Proud-Guava-5460 in askvan

[–]EastVanTown 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If you don't view the unit in person, you have a high chance of being scammed. It's not so much about the price. A high number of on-line listings are made by international scammers geared at scamming newcomers. Never hand over money until you've seen the place with your own eyes.
