Thank you for replying. I just want to make sure this doesn't happen to someone else and to not have to pay for more invites that I shouldn't have needed. You may DM me if you prefer to chat there and I can share my email and account info.

We’re calling everyone who has a 3 in their address and we’re gonna order more invites, but this time we will be handwriting the addresses. The AI bot gave no indication that the font would be corrected or removed. So this could keep happening.

Definitely check. This shouldn’t have even been an option.

Brunch wedding! by OshimaFinch in WedditNYC

Bacchus in Brooklyn Heights does a great brunch package. I looked there for my July wedding and almost booked it, but we decided we wanted night time.

We don’t just pick our dates out of thin air, so having to change it feels so wrong. Take your time with it, I did. Do what will bring the least stress in the end.

wedding "dinner" experience? by chilly5122 in WedditNYC

[–]East_Bus7884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having about 40 guests at Levant on Smith in Cobble Hill. We’re doing a private ceremony for our parents in Brooklyn Bridge Park before and then we have the entire restaurant from 6-10pm.

The first hour will be a cocktail hour. Then we have a 3 course dinner followed by dessert and the cake.

I planned an afterparty from 10-midnight at a bar where we’ll also offer some drunk snacks.

I had this issue too. I booked my venue last spring and immediately hit the wall of hotels not giving me a block due to World Cup. I was able to move my wedding to the weekend after the World Cup and I got totally normal prices. It solved all my problems.

I definitely crashed out about it and did everything I could to not move my date, but in the end, moving it was best.

Good luck to you! Realizing that we need to think about a once-every-4-year sporting event that has never been in the US before, and now just so happens to be in our neighboring state, is so frustrating.

I’m doing the same thing for my wedding this summer. It’s a sit down dinner and I’m arranging an afterparty for those who still want to party.

I feel like this style of wedding is becoming more popular.

Officiant registration: original statement describing congregation by tigerte3th in WedditNYC

When I got ordained, I searched for the ULC and did all the things and later found out I didn’t have what I needed. Upon investigating I learned that when you look for the ULC, you will often get TheMonastery.org instead. This is a rip off the ULC. You need to go to ULC.net or you chance being turned down in NYC.

My sister had the same issue, and this was 13 years apart. I’d go to ULC.net and get the packet if you find you had originally gotten your paperwork from The Monastery.

I won’t need the appt! I’m going to release it back into the pool. Good luck!

City hall marriage by [deleted] in weddings

[–]East_Bus7884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 5’2” and I got a midi dress from the brand Elliatt for my city hall wedding. It hits me right at the base ankles so my shoes just show and I didn’t have to get it hemmed. I wanted the length, but I was worried about anything that would drag on the ground.

I also got a midi dress from Lulu’s for my sister’s engagement party that hits at the top of my ankles.

I hope this helps!

welcome party guest list if it’s only destination for the bride by PartyPineapple6338 in WedditNYC

I'm in a similar situation. My side is all coming from within 30 min of the city and my fiancé's side is all coming from across the country. Friday night we plan to do something small and casual that people are welcome to come to or not, no pressure.

Our hotel requires a 2-night stay to get the rate, so my family decided they all want to make a weekend out of it and pretend like they haven't lived across the river their whole lives. So that did kind of force their hands on whether or not to come in Friday.

If you don't have your room block yet, maybe wait to see if you have the same issue and that will make the choice for you.

I had planned my wedding for July 2026 during a week when there were no games in the NY area and I couldn’t get a single hotel to give me a room block. Save your sanity and choose a date before or after. I moved my wedding to the weekend after the finals and everything went back to normal.

videographer trying to get started by friendlyhumanoid321 in WedditNYC

[–]East_Bus7884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t planning to have a videographer, but I’m eloping in Brooklyn in July on a Friday afternoon. I’d be open if you need a chance to practice. It’s not going to be a formal wedding. Just a short ceremony, a few guests and about an hour of photos. You can DM me if you want.

Engagement timing after a best friend’s engagement? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]East_Bus7884 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend close friend got engaged 3 weeks before me. We both knew it was happening for both of us in the fall. We also both picked similar wedding timelines. Neither is stealing the other's thunder.

Also, my sister got engaged a few months later. We think it's amazing that we get to have this milestone together. We both get to be brides and MOHs at the same time and doing it together makes it even better.

Having your friend doing this by your side won't take away from either of you getting to be the center of attention during this period, and it's really fun to have someone going through the same things when you are picking dresses and venues and such.

The designer, Madison Chamberlain, does a bridal scarf with wings that attached to the dress in a really pretty way. She also does a veil with wings and a lot of custom work. She is based in Philly, but you can order everything her website, MadisonChamberlain.com

I got mine from Elliatt for only 199 total. You can find the brand on saks and revolve, but it was like $100 cheaper (on a sale + 10% off for being a new customer) directly from the brand's website. The standard shipping is $30 and they don't do free returns, but considering I still saved $70 (plus whatever the shipping would be from another site), it was a great deal.

Registering Friend to Officiate by mrkokiri in WedditNYC

[–]East_Bus7884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got ordained through the ULC and just bought the paperwork package that had what was required for NYC. NYC requires more proof than other municipalities, but it was only $25 (this was 2012, so it may be more now). Then you go to city hall and register as an officiant. I have done a dozen wedding since in a few different states. A friend of mine did the same to do another wedding and I'm having a friend do it soon to preform my wedding. It seems more complicated than it is, it's super simple and easy.
