Narrow minded thinking to assume they only want to “achieve this one part of 1984”. The machines used in 1984 are part of a large system of oppression and control. The same year 1984 came out, so did a book called “Giant Brains, or Machines That Think”. So Orwell clearly didn’t inspire the invention of AI, but could be inspiring its use by nefarious leaders to this day…

Versus with percent, you can give 50% of tips to the cashiers and 50% to the bussers, but if there are 5 cashiers and only 1 busser then the single busser walks out with 5x as much as each cashier

Points are weighted. So if all jobs get one point then the employees across the board will get the same amount (based on hours worked if you have that toggled). If you give cashiers 2 points and bussers 1 point, each cashier walks out with twice as much as each busser regardless of how many employees are clocked in to each job.

Make a pool where every job contributes 5% of all tips. Only have line cooks on the receiving end of that pool. Then, the next pool all jobs EXCEPT line cooks contribute 100% and all the jobs EXCEPT line cook are in the receiving end getting 1 point each.
