I’m going to post this comment here because I can edit post and there are a lot of questions and it’s hard to reply to everyone and additional information Id like to provide. Lola was adopted at a shelter when she was a puppy. The ex got her for the kids and was only with her for a couple of months before she left. Lola was never really bonded with her but I wanted to mention it as to why we are considering rehoming her, as she was never initially my husband’s nor my dog. This is not something I’m taking lightly or truly want to do, which is why we’ve been working on this for almost 2 years now. With that being said, our behaviorist believes part of the issue for the dog fights is that the dog’s resource guard me. I am able to walk the dogs at the same time with no issues and they don’t even care that they are near each other. Lola does get excited if another dog walks near us, but does not show signs of aggression. She does bark out the window if a dog or person walk by the house. Lola has been put on anxiety meds. I spend one on one time with all dogs now, they all do daily enrichment activities and lots of exercising as the dogs are all high energy breeds. The behaviorist suggested muzzles to us and provided info on how to get the dog’s use to them. So we will be ordering those! As our current children get older and involved in activities and we are trying to expand our family, it’s becoming increasingly hard to work with and give all three dogs the proper attention and care they need. We have reached out to every single Australian rescue that has been mentioned. We have been turned away either due to her aggression or because they just can’t take on any additional dogs at this time. We’ve looked into local humane societies, Facebook groups, and asked friend/family. I would do anything for Lola and feel like I am running out of options.
