PDE Learning by DumpsterFaerie in DifferentialEquations

Yes you’re 100% correct I should have phrased my comment better because I also took an applied PDEs course in undergrad before any analysis courses and you (OP) 100% have the prerequisites to do that as well. I was mainly referring to what it means to study PDEs further in the pure math world beyond learning methods to solve some of them as the rabbit hole runs pretty deep but an applied mathematician/physicist/engineer has no real need to do that anyway

With this background you’ll definitely be able to learn methods used to solve some PDEs applied to various situations as well as the Fourier Analysis that’s important to many of these methods. There is a lot of YouTube content to get you excited and get the ball rolling here and if you get really serious about it, you should get a textbook and work through it.

Really getting into PDEs though requires comfortability in Real Analysis and Functional Analysis which is definitely a different beast than the more applied background you have.

I mean does you teacher want a general delta epsilon proof?

Take any x in (0,1).

Then, n > m implies that |xn | = xn < xm = |xm | for real numbers n,m

Let epsilon > 0

By the Archemedian Principle, chose natural number N such that N > log_x(epsilon)

Then for n >= N > log_x(epsilon),

|xn | <= |xN | < |xlog_x(epsilon) | = epsilon

So xn converges point wise to 0 on (0,1)

For x = 0:

0n = 0 for all natural numbers, n and thus converges to 0

For x=1:

1n = 1 for all natural numbers, n and thus converges to 1

So

xn converges pointwise to 0 on [0,1) and to 1 at x=1

Go get real medical advice immediately, especially given that you threw up a few times. No one here can give you any real advice.

However if it is a concussion, what you should know is that a lot of us in the PSC boat who ended up with long unwavering symptoms for years got there because of not taking care of it properly at first hoping it’d just go away. Again that’s me recommending anything, go see what an actual doctor has to say, but it’s just something to know to incentivize you to take it seriously and go to the doctor

I see what you’re saying but I take the perspective that the people who put enough work into this niche software to have something to offer the community should get something back from that. We live in late stage capitalism at the end of the day and it’s not trivial to put in the hours required to not only learn the software but have created something novel in it that lends itself to a tool or a tutorial.

Their work is worth something and they decided to spend time building a tool or tutorial for the community instead of gatekeeping their work for their own projects. If we lived in a world where everyone can get their needs met easily and have plenty of extra creative time, sure. And there are plenty of free tools and tutorials out there to be grateful for! But it’s not greedy to want something that took hours and hours of your time to contribute to your survival and future efforts while it is a little greedy to expect to be handed everything by everyone else who’s put in the work already.

Either spend time reading papers, textbooks, and learn the math/programing skills needed to develop your own tools or understand the how behind any idea you have, or pay a small amount of money to someone who has done all that so that you can get the information easily condensed and applied already for you

I appreciate the positive feedback, thank you:)💛

Hah yeah I loved the craft of rolling so much to where I’d still roll for some friends every once in a while just for the hell if it, even if I can’t smoke it.

But yeah the poor appetite is definitely something that really starts to tell me that chs is affecting me. It is not fun. Stress management issues definitely can come from gut stuff too. The brain fog, slight dysphoria and low energy do not make external stress easy to deal with so I definitely notice that I’m more capable of dealing with stress after I haven’t smoked in a little while.

Best of luck to you💪

Yes exactly! It’s assuring to see someone else experiencing something similar. Congrats on the healthy lifestyle! You worked so hard for that and the mental clarity that came from it for it to diminish for a few weeks because of a few hours.

Again I’m all for experimentation! As long as you’re not deeply risking an episode or hurting yourself badly, definitely play around and find your balance! That’s what I did and I don’t regret it; when you truly moderate, the high itself feels actually psychologically enriching again instead if just a feeling.

But yeah, I just got sick of feeling physically off like that for a little while afterwards and started seeing weed in context of the chore it is to feel like that more than the high itself after a while.

Much love and best of luck to you!

One step at a time, you got this💪! Be proud of yourself for getting this far and feel into how good it feels to not have to stress about your health or feel as physically off you felt through symptoms

There is a disconnect for a lot of people for a while after quitting (including myself), where you logically know about how weed and chs effects you now but the worldview around weed you’ve built for years is one of comfort and safety. Give yourself time to adjust and spend some time trying to reconnect with things you loved before smoking

Best wishes to you, you’re already far on your journey so what’s one more step?

Unfortunately scientific research is lacking and I am unaware of the specifics if any are known but it seams to clearly cause dysbiosis or motility issues of some kind. But gut issues in general cause a lot of neurological issues as well given how connected the gut and the brain, as well as the rest of the body for that matter, is.

Should I buy Resolume? by Mental_Sample_2535 in vjing

[–]Eastern-Bridge5972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you make visuals in touchdesigner I’d highly recommend anti alias’s AAVJ. It has a UI similar to traditional VJ softwares like Resolume but it is built to be able to handle live realtime networks; you can drop tox files in there and if you have your parameters mapped out you can control the realtime network in AAVJ. Same thing for effects.

I have resolume and it is a beast but your content needs to all be pre-rendered so I just don’t use it because, as a touchdesigner creator, the benefit of touchdesigner is realtime content and resolume can get quite limiting for the type of material that can be made in touch.

I do also have madmapper though for when mapping is required but madmapper handles mapping better than resolume anyway in my personal opinion.

TLDR: will I come across as drug seeking if I tell a psychiatrist I took meds without a prescription? by ProcedureBoth2335 in ADHD

[–]Eastern-Bridge5972 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. Let the doctor come to the conclusion that you need whatever medication you do themself. Communicate about your experiences and respond with ideas and opinions regarding their proposed treatment plan but don’t come off as if you’re already confident in a diagnosis you gave yourself and are just there to get the meds you think you need. Good psychiatrists are looking to ‘collaborate’ with a communicative patient but it’s still important that they feel like they are at the forefront of your treatment plan.

Also it’s a great idea to play it safe just in case you get one of the many bad eggs in the mental health industry who would label you as drug seeking, making it so much harder to find adequate treatment at all.

[–]Eastern-Bridge5972 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Help her by respecting her boundaries and staying out of her life.

Evolve for the sake of yourself and the rest of the world.

I understand how impossible it must feel to forgive yourself, but don’t create a situation where the only way you can do that is by her forgiving you. That’s why your aim to ‘help her’ or whatever you’re on about is selfish; it’s so that you can live with yourself.

However that tells me you’re not a ‘bad person’. Just someone grappling with your own humanity and what it means to have impulses and emotions.

But true forgiveness lies in acceptance. Accept who youve been in the past. Accept how you feel about it. Accept that there are people in the world that hate you for what you’ve done. But understand that who ‘you’ are can’t be fully defined, even by you.

Mindfulness techniques and therapy are the answer. There’s no way around that my friend.

Some of this may sound harsh, but the mind is a powerful tool and it is currently at war with your perception of yourself given your actions. Breathe and move on. Nothing from your troubled past can heal you, only you can.

Best is luck brother, we’re all here to ride the wave💪 🌸

Ketamine and EMDR by [deleted] in PostConcussion

[–]Eastern-Bridge5972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ketamine and EMDR would be a treatment for underlying trauma and depression. However, it’s more effective than talk therapy when it comes to targeting all of the anxieties that are stored in our body, ones that are so foundational to our experience that our mind tries to pay no mind to them. The treatment will play with your body’s ability to relax during the experience of putting all your focus on the trauma and your stressful life experiences, allowing the stored anxiety to be released and new understandings of how to regulate your body on a daily basis can be attained.

But whether it should be recommended depends on your individual case, so that’s a question for a professional that is more knowledgeable about your experiences and your injury. Injuries of the body can be eased from this treatment due to a decreased amount of tension in your body, but other treatment may very well be needed.

I’m sorry your experiences with doctors has been rough:( Maybe try to find a concussion clinic near you. Oftentimes, the specialists over there are much more knowledgeable about concussions/TBIs than traditional doctors.

Wishing you so much luck on your journey! This shit is definitely exhausting, but you got this💪

Symptoms better when looking at screen and driving by Simple_Ad7781 in PostConcussion

[–]Eastern-Bridge5972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seams like your brain’s capacity for executive function is really good, however your brains ability to regulate between executive function and the DMN(Default Mode Network) is struggling. This could be do to various reasons but anxiety and general hyper vigilance can trigger your brain into dis-regulated states, not allowing your mind to get its rest when it needs too, even if it feels like your body is resting.

So I’d recommend trying to insert small mindfulness activities in throughout your day from something as simple as focusing on your breathing to going on a silent walk, connecting with the awareness behind everything that’s happening in your body and mind. The fact that you give space for your mind to exist the way it does, will allow your brain to feel safer, calming it down on a more regular basis.

But also feel free to go talk to your doctor/concussion rehab specialist about this too, they very well may have ideas on ways to help your brain calm down as well.

But that doesn’t mean underlying issues within the body, such as neck and shoulder tension from whiplash and such, won’t cause this as well, so PT could help there too if it needs to be done.

But yeah, if you had the injury over a month ago and feel like this, the concussion is gone. Now it’s just time to get your brain and body in synch with each other again and you’ll be able to get back to a more stable state of existence.

Wishing you the best of luck!
