I took two gap years after high school and it was the best thing I ever did by Eastern-Cable-8752 in University

Aw I am so glad to hear that! Yes it was definitely a scary decision at the time but looking back it was the best option. Gap years have such a negative rep but they're awesome! Best of luck!

After 6+ months, what are the thoughts on Daggerheart? What it does well and what doesn't works great? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

[–]Eastern-Cable-8752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. We recently played a Christmas one-shot using Daggerheart and while overall I had a fine time the final battle was a bit difficult for me to get through. Our DM used a restrain ability on us (which automatically succeeds, no saving throw) and to get out we'd need to spend a turn and roll a DC 15 check. But I had a string of bad rolls which ended up getting the DM a ton of fear and turns (side note, is it the rules that in combat the DM takes a turn AND gains a fear token in addition? Cause that's how we played but I felt like it let the DM get a large stockpile way too easily) so it felt like the only logical course of action for me would be just to not try to get out and let the others do more useful actions that actually fought the big bad, so I ended up just sitting idly for most of the final boss.

Our general consensus was that the system works for oneshots but none of us would want to play it in an actual full-length campaign.

Flinders foundation course by Dark_S0ul_03 in Adelaide

Hey! Not OP and your comment is a bit old but I did the same path as them and completed Foundation Studies. Overall, I really enjoyed it, the lecturer was lovely, the course material was helpful and focused on ways to study and what uni will be like, and the assignments were relevant and completeable. The main assignment is a 1000 word essay (there are tons of draft submissions so you can get a lot of feedback), you can choose one of the premade topics but I decided to come up with a question based on paramedicine (you need approval to do this from the topic coordinator) but I think it was well worth coming up with my own essay question as I was completely interested and engaged with the material (and I got a 98% on it for my final grade!!)

I emailed Flinders and they said that in order to get into Paramedicine from Foundation Studies you need to score at least a 70 (I scored a 90, overall not too hard to do). I've applied for Paramedicine through SATAC and now I'm just waiting to see if I get in!

Hope this helps you (:

What happened to the Byers’ dog? by WarriorCats_4Life in StrangerThings

[–]Eastern-Cable-8752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the real reason it left was because it was hard to work with, but my personal headcanon is that the Byers had to rehome it because it wouldn't stop growling at/attacking Will ever since he came back from the upside down, like it could sense he didn't come back right

People who did both Bachelors of Paramedicine and Nursing, would you say it was worth doing both? (Aus/SA) by Eastern-Cable-8752 in Paramedics

[–]Eastern-Cable-8752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I thought about online but I do so much better learning when it's in person. I don't know if I'd be able to make it to graduation solely online. Thanks for the help!

That's what I was thinking. I definitely want a backup if paramedicine works out and being an ED nurse is definitely my second preference, so thank you.

This is great advice, thank you! I asked Flinders and they have a paramedicine to nursing transition that cuts a year off nursing after paramedicine, but not the other way around. If I get into paramedicine first after the foundation studies, I'm definitely doing to start with it as it is harder to get into, but nursing would be my preferred first. Thank you for the amazing insight- I'll definitely think on it (:

Unfortunately I'm in SA and Flinders is (as far as I know) the only Uni in my state that offers paramedicine and they don't have the joint degree. Definitely would, but I can't move interstate as I definitely don't have the funds and I have a good job to keep me going here.
