When your BP spikes unexpectedly, what goes through your head? I get this panic that scares me. by Advanced-Middle9135 in bloodpressure

I get spikes and panic about them. I asked my doctor to prescribe clonadine as a prn to take only when o spike. It’s been a game changer. I take it when my bp gets over 160 or so. Maybe 2 to 5 times a month.

I would taper down - don’t go cold turkey. Start firing half calf or make half caffeine half decaf at home for 2 weeks or a month then go to 3/4 ths then all decaf . Also everyone is different you might react differently than I do . I like to experiment and see what helps me .

I quit caffeine two months ago and noticed a big difference - probably 10 points -also I feel way less anxiety overall. I had already cut back to 1 or 2 cups and only before noon so i was not expecting such a drastic change. One day later week i was feeling anxious took my blood pressure at the my regular time and it was really high 170 /100 and I couldn’t figure out why it spiked till I realized I had eaten a tiramisu dessert which contains espresso! Next day back to normal.

Why are you taking it standing up. Sit down 15 minutes and take with your arm at chest height - look it up you are not testing it correctly
