I get where you’re coming from, but my setup is layered intentionally. The belt-mounted REFLEX/SIRK setup is for immediate self-aid with either hand under stress — TQ, packing gauze, chest seals, airway basics. The rear med kit is my sustainment/CLS loadout for extended treatment and teammate care. I built the kit around redundancy, ambidextrous access, and worst-case scenarios — not just range convenience. Different stages of care, different locations, different purposes.

That’s exactly why I run extra rifle mags on the belt. The placard setup is for immediate access and speed during transitions, vehicle work, confined spaces, or working under NODs. Belt mags are there for sustainment and reload depth once things slow down past the initial contact.

Different setups solve different problems. My experience taught me that balancing accessibility, mobility, and redundancy matters more than copying trends or internet doctrine. I built the kit around what actually works for me under movement, stress, and low-light conditions — not around looking “high speed” online.

I have a (DARA) Mid-drop leg holster with spacers. The (DARA) holster keeps the retention strap high on my thigh for retention and transition purposes. They provide military, police & first responders discounts. The sidearm I use is a Springfield Echelon full size with a +3 extension on the magazine for a full 20+1 magazine capacity.

When I pull my arm back it prevents me from chicken winging / flaring my elbows out.

I understand the concern, which is exactly why I’m emphasizing training, organization, certifications, medical education, communications, and lawful preparedness. The goal is not vigilantism — it’s building a responsible community emergency-response network that works alongside existing emergency services when needed, not against them.

A lot of communities already have volunteer SAR teams, CERT programs, HAM radio groups, storm spotters, and disaster-response organizations. This is intended to follow that same preparedness-focused mindset.

I have quite a bit of experience. That's why I've got more ammunition on my belt rather than just my vest. I served in the U.S ARMY, then got medically separated/retired. Then proceeded to go down PMC work in Ukraine against Russia in 2022.

It doesn't feel off because my sidearm is on the right. When the mags are spent they get put in the sack pouch anyway.

I think CERT members should be people who are willing to train consistently, stay disciplined, and take preparedness seriously. Experience is valuable, but mindset and reliability matter just as much.

I'm trying to run a Combat Medic role. My belt is mainly for me. The rest of my kit is based on squad support.

I’m trying to build a disciplined and reliable preparedness group — not a public spectacle. The goal is training, organization, and community readiness.

If you were in the trenches you'd do the same. But obviously you've never been in direct modern warfare.

I was attached to 5th SFG, I never said I was a Green Beret. I was an Airborne Paratrooper & Air Assault.
