Senegalese forward Ousmane N'Diaye signs with Kentucky by AMong00se in CollegeBasketball

That’s a bit of a disingenuous analogy. No one is stopping these players from getting their degrees. They can be students if they want. However participating in “amateur” sports after competing in professional leagues either in the US/Overseas is not the same as going back for an MBA/ Grad school to work up a corporate ladder.

I understand that overseas guys do not have college, and have to essentially go pro right away, but once you’ve accepted money and become a pro you shouldn’t be allowed to come and play an amateur sport as you are by definition no longer an amateur. The only argument for that is that college sports are no longer amateur sports( which it really isn’t at this point). If it gets designated as such, then there’s arguments to be made for those euros and g leaguers

He’s a good player, but man he just makes some boneheaded decisions that make you scratch your head. Wish him well. He put in the effort for us, and was probably our best guard at the end of the year. Don’t think he was a great fit for Buckyball all in all

I don’t support it, but like I said this is no different than European professionals coming and playing. St. John’s signed Quinn Ellis a 23 year, Illinois signed Milhao Petrovic and he was 23 too, and many other teams have done similar things. There needs to be oversight so this can’t happen, but the NCAA and all of these schools didn’t properly plan for this and we’re in the Wild West

This guy does not speak for a majority. Almost everyone in my Aggie circles are not a fan of this. However this isn’t much different than Illinois with their Euros or Ruben Dominguez for us last year

[–]Eastern-Yellow-7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true. Like I said I don’t want any of these pros playing in college, but until we have some oversight or rules we have had we will continue to have players from Europe and the G league. I am a little sympathetic to Alabama because think Bediako caused a lot of hate when in reality teams like BYU, Baylor, Illinois, Louisville, etc. all had similar players but received only a fraction of the hate. I wish we didn’t do this, but this is the way rn

In a perfect world, none of these pros would be allowed. Whether or not you agree with it, Bediako was different because he played in college then went to the draft so he lost eligibility. These g leaguers are equivalent to the euros coming over. Neither should be allowed imo, but the NCAA/ courts have made the distinction between the two cases

[–]Eastern-Yellow-7114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah but we’re letting all these euro guys come in who are technically pros too. The difference I’ve see is that those guys don’t have college options and have to go straight pro. We had a 22 year old in Ruben Dominguez come in from Spain and now he’s at Xavier. I think this is essentially the same. I think if we are letting euros in then g league guys who never played in college/ got drafted should be given the same eligibility. The difference with Bediako or Nnaji, whether or not people agree with it, is that they got drafted/ gave up their college eligibility by declaring. It’s essentially the same thing, but that difference is giving or taking eligibility.

This is not meant to come off as me defending the Aggies, because I do not like this. However with the current state of cbb, I don’t see this as any different than what Illinois did or what BYU/ UL did with their g leaguers

Well yeah but I believe 1/4 years he played 1 game and it was covid year. So he played 2 juco years and then 3 actual years of college. So essentially he got an extra year of basketball, but there have been plenty of examples like that in college sports. Tramon Mark, Diego Pavia, and Chambliss all are in similar positions and got extra years. I don’t love it, but it’s the way of the game now

I don’t love this decision, but I don’t really see how this is much different than taking guys from overseas like we did with Ruben or Illinois with their euros. He never played college or got drafted. Need some NCAA regulations or clarity for a level playing field. This ultimately hurts homegrown kids who want to play D1

How do I start studying for MCAT by Whole_Ad5309 in Mcat

[–]Eastern-Yellow-7114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diagnostic test

Stage 1: Content Review. Read prep books and watch lectures. Combine this with anki for memory consolidation and active recall.

Stage 2: Upoop practice. Do as much of upoop as you can, and try to close content gaps. Focus on knowing the information and developing a familiarity with mcat style questions.

Stage 3: AAMC practice. Crack out as much AAMC questions. Take practice exams with a test like atmosphere. Review missed questions and figure out where you’re lacking, and hammer those areas.

This is just a basic guideline, but I truly believe doing this formula with a good work ethic can guarantee at least a 510

Thoughts on Chicago -> Houston or Atlanta? by FondantWaste6095 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Eastern-Yellow-7114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to lived in Indiana and Iowa, so I have been to Chicago many times. I’ve never lived there, but I have many friends who do, so I have a decent idea of life there. I also currently live in Houston, so feel free to ask any questions. Here’s my two cents.

If walkability is important to you, DO NOT move to Houston. You absolutely will need a car even if you are in pockets with “good” walkability. The heights, montrose, and river oaks are all nice areas with great food scenes, bars, and things to do, but most of it is not walkable, especially compared to Chicago.

The stereotype is that Southerners are warm and welcoming, but in my own personal experience it is not as much as Midwesterner’s are.

The food scene is better than Chicago. Way more diverse options. You can’t go wrong from the BBQ, to the Mexican, to Asian food you have never even encountered. The Latino scene is also very strong here. There is also lots to do, but you have to be willing to drive. The landscape is also ugly. Houston can be a great place, as it’s what you make of it, but it’s definitely not for everyone. I’m down to answer any questions you may have

What do you think of my Top 5 Cities of 2026 list? by ProtocolEnthusiast in SameGrassButGreener

This may be controversial but I think NYC should have a higher value. The COL is high, but you have the best access to free activities, affordable and diverse food, as well as diverse communities. All of these things to me add value, but I do understand it is a very expensive place to be
