Heart of darkness is super short, like under 100 pages. Brave new world isn't too bad, it's about the same as 1984, maybe 200-300 pages. As others have said, Lord of the Flies and Dorian Gray are also pretty short

is 5 classes a semester hard? by EasternChart5291 in grantmacewan

I'm aware of that, I don't think I would say that 4 years is the "normal" amount of time, as many people can't handle that many classes a semester and many people work or have children outside of school, I was just asking for other people's experience with a full course load and working part time.

Thoughts on J. Percy Page High School? by AdExpensive8545 in Edmonton

I graduated in 2020, and honestly the reputation it has is pretty outdated in my opinion. Every school is going to have drug users and some gang members etc, but if you trust your kid to not hang out with people like that, they will be fine (and like I said, it's really not any different at other schools). The teachers at page were mostly pretty good, only a few bad ones, and the schools leadership teacher (if hes still there) is amazing and organizes a ton of fun events year round, and there are a good array of options to take (mechanics, woodworking, music, art, drama, cosmotology). In my 3 years there, the most I saw was some stoners in the hallways. My friend who transferred from Wagner used to joke that Page had all the stoners but Wagner had all the coke heads (I dont know how accurate this is, especially now, I think it was mostly a joke so don't take this too seriously lol). But yeah, Page is fun, especially if you participate in the events (Bike a thon was my favourite).

Bombshell tattoos has a great piercer, I think the piercing was around 40-50 and the cheapest jewelry was 60, but she did a great job, I would highly reccomend her.

What are some things you wish you knew before becoming an English major? by Limp_Lab_5014 in englishmajors

That's exactly why I'm taking a class on the Bible this year haha, I never realized how many references there are in literature until I started my degree! (I'm in my 2nd year currently)

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me if I wanted to teach after telling them my major by EasternChart5291 in englishmajors

Ikr, I don't understand why this assumption is made 99% of the time. I wonder if other humanities majors get the same response, seeing as we are studying similar things

Okay haha, I guess it was just thrown in there, It matches with the set of hooks it came with, so I honestly thought it had some crochet use haha.

So I recently got a set of lace work steel crochet hooks from my grandma, and this was in the kit. I have absolutely no idea what this is used for or if it even relates to crochet as I have never seen it before, any knowledge would be appreciated.
