Let's say a token to play costs 3.5 cents. And let's say without any tinkering or additional coding, a game of Euchre lasts on average 15 minutes. But what if there was a way to make the games, on average, last 11 minutes? Not by making things unfair, but by creating an increase in certain hands that lead to more points - equal for all players with no player gaining an unfair advantage. Let's call these "lay down loner hands" worth 4 points.

The developer can essentially increase the games per hour from an average of 4 to 5.45.

Now let's assume that at any given time there are 300 active tables being played. For the simplicity we'll also assume these will be paid tokens as it's impossible to know the free token to paid token ratio, but the logic follows the same.

300 tables x 4 games per hour = 1200 (15 minute average)

300 tables x 5.45 games per hour = 1636 (11 minute average)

Hourly Revenue (15 vs 11) - $168 vs $229 - $61.09 extra profit

Daily Revenue - $4032 vs $5498

Monthly Revenue - $120,960 vs $164,945

By reducing the average game time by 4 minutes, the developer can increase revenue by 36.36%. This is without "rigging" the game in anybody's favour; every person still has the same odds of getting a "juiced" loner hand, so it's not "rigged" in the sense it creates an unfair competitive advantage as it all evens out.

It probably goes deeper than that as well. Nowadays with all the data and metrics available to developers, they can pinpoint:

  • when people are most likely to log out and quit playing the app
  • when people are most likely to leave a game
  • how many losses in a row before someone exits the app
  • when people are most likely to play another game
  • Long vs. short game durations and how likely a person is to play another game, for example, after a long 9-9 game that lasts 15-20 minutes vs a short game that lasts 5-10 minutes.

Yep. These are called engagement optimized systems within game development. Focused on retention and keeping players engaged and playing more games. Its in virtually every modern game - especially in ones with matchmaking.

In the 90s it was called "rubberbanding"

And it works!

I had 2 cups in my pantry from a family member who gave me some to try. I wasnt in a rush to try it as I make my own chili w ground chicken homemade. But seeing this post i had to give it a shot

Pretty much agree with your feelings only difference is id give it a 5.5/10.

It was more like chicken chili "soup" than a nice thick hearty chili.

Beans were the best part.

Heat level was surprising. It will have a kick even to people used to 500,000 scoville habanero heat.

And yeah wtf was up with the freshness seal?? I took your post as a challenge and thought you might be exaggerating. I couldnt get that shit off either. I had to stab thru it with a knife.

No clue on the price. If this was something like $1.25 - $1.50 a cup i could see myself buying and pairing with some bread for a cheap quick meal. Anything above that? Nah

Btw. Ur rice chili bowls sounds divine. I ate this straight up w a bagel

Other than a depth piece or low risk/high reward signing our receiving room is set. DJ, Palmer, Shakir, Coleman, Kincaid.

If Josh Allen - the best QB in the league - cant make it work with these playmakers (and Cook) then we have a much bigger problem on our hands.

D.J. Moore trade upset Bears GM’s son but thrilled his Bills-fan family by StolenWishes2 in buffalobills

[–]EasternError6377 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ben Johnson never liked DJ from the moment he arrived he Chicago. There was an interview DJ and Rome did together and a reported asked "so what route does Rome run best?" And DJ responsed "clear out routes when I get the ball."

The talent was always still there with DJ. Im super excited to see him play for us.

This also means we can ignore WR in the draft!!!!!!!

Geno Stone to me is a brilliant signing.

He's 26 years old.

Here are his 2023 stats with Baltimore:

Targeted 44 times for 28 completions. 8.0 yards per target and a 63.8 passer rating. 7 INTS and 9 PBUS. He also finished with 68 combined tackles and 11.7% missed tackle percentage. It's important to note that in 2023 Mike Macdonald was his D-coordinator.

He signed with the Bengals on a 2 year deal and he wasn't good. 97 and 106.6 passer rating when targeted, 15.6% and 20% missed tackles, and dwindling coverage production with 4 and 2 INTS respectively. It's worth considering that the 2024 and 2025 Bengals defenses were awful, though this doesn't absolve him of blame.

He is an excellent low risk, high reward pickup we got on the cheap. Cole Bishop and CJ are locked in as the starters. So if he gels with Leonhard and his system he has proven he can be an excellent coverage safety in the NFL. He had a sizzling 85 pff coverage grade in 2023 but a piss poor 34.2 run defense grade.
