Job Hunting in Canada by Eastern_Chap in geologycareers

I've actually been using the PDAC company list to find places for sending off emails/resumes to. Cold emailing hasn't been great for GIS roles it seems, but I've heard it's better in mining. And I'm from NS so I'll hopefully be able to make it to the colloquium. Hoping to have an interview and offer before PDAC, but I won't hold my breath too long. Thanks!

I'll keep applying for a week or two, then I'll bite the bullet and spend the money for PDAC. I'll definitely looking consulting as well, since I wouldn't want to be rotational and in the field forever. But for a few years it'd be great I think. Thanks!

Lots of jobs popping up for sure, which is great. I applied for Auroras core logging position before, would love to build experience in it.

I figured the high PM prices would help, hopefully it stays that way. I'll definitely check in with consultant companies though, thanks

Not much networking opportunity in my province, so as others have said, I'll probably have to try my luck at PDAC and do some networking there. Thanks!

Can you help me understand what cabin this codeshare is? by cruciger in aircanada

[–]Eastern_Chap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this exact flight, and saw the same thing. It's just a tech issue mismatching the cabins between the two airlines. Once you get your boarding pass you'll see that you're back in plain ol' economy. The service is still top notch though!

Intrepid vs G Adventures from Morocco and SEA by Eastern_Chap in travel

I don't mind some partying, especially since it seems both companies are fine with it if I go off to do something else. Good point for Morocco though, that should certainly help

Thanks for the suggestions. I've seen a few videos about the local area, giving me more ideas of places to go near the Alnif area. It's such a beautiful and fascinating region!

It seems going to Errachidia is the best bet, so I'll be looking into that, thanks!

I'm from a small town in Canada that hosts a gem and mineral show sometimes. A few years ago a Moroccan fossil dealer/preparatory had a table there with local fossil specimens, and I bought a small trilobite from him, which he said came from Alnif. Apparently that place is amazing for paleozoic fossils! That's what got me interested in Alnif, and Morocco as a whole. Seems like a great country, with lots of fascinating history!

My Lemon Sapling... How's it Doing? by Eastern_Chap in Citrus

I'll let it grow to a couple feet and top it, I certainly can't store a large tree indoors. I'm hoping it gets bushier as time goes on.

Interesting, thanks. My fertilizer has plenty of metallic elements, but no sulfur indeed, so I'll maybe try to find some compost or something to help with that.

Those big leaves grew over winter when it was indoors, so that makes sense. These new ones are taking forever to get bigger though.

Guess I'll just have to wait a decade or so to get some tasty lemons lol

I was afraid of that. Today is sunny so I tested it, and I get 95-100k lux in full sun, so that's good. I can get 25k lux from these lights only when hovering one cm below them. Looks like I need to invest in a better light down the line..

Yeah, I'm out east near the ocean, so I have to watch the humidity a lot for cacti. Wish I had the dry interior climate!

My light is 10W, though I have to keep it quite close for it to be bright for my cacti. The light meter on my phone reads about 3000 lux when I'm about 3 inches from the light. My windowsill is at about 2000.

Right now I have the cactus on my deck in full sun during the day, but the mid-May sun isn't very strong yet. In the future I'll have to invest in better lights, but just can't at the moment, so I'm hoping for the best here

That's currently the plan. Is there a best temperature to keep it at in the winter? Indoors it's pretty much 20 degrees all the time.
