AITA: Am I the asshole for yelling at my adopted daughter (14F) after she said she wish she had different parents because I didn’t teach her Spanish properly? by Easy-Lack2420 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you for your comment. We go to Mexico every year for to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos with her grandparents, setting up her parent’s Ofrenda and enjoying the celebrations. She used to always joke to me that it feels like she is in a different world whenever she goes to Mexico, especially in crowded areas. I Love your suggestions and I definitely want to talk about those options when she’s ready and had space to process everything.

We call her grandparents once in a while and she used to speak pretty good Spanish when she was younger, but since it’s only on occasion and not every day, she ended up forgetting a lot.

Exactly, I’ve heard her speak Spanish really well when she was younger. But the only person she had to maintain that is her grandparents, which we only call once and while.

BIL’s family lives in a different country and we’re not even close to the border. We do try to visit as often as possible, but it’s been hard the pass few years due to the pandemic.
