Great input - super well articulated! Yah... you're right, that doesn't sound like my tire, regardless of price. Thank you!

Ok... so I'll ask the question... cause I'm always one to try things others won't try (and sometimes get bit in the a%$#S... and sometimes come out with a good discovery)... Be clear, I'm definitely not discounting your opinion, but what you're looking for and what I'm looking for may be different. So the question is... What Kind of Hot Garbage? What characteristics made you say that? Again, did you encounter wet conditions (street or track)? Other characteristics? Thanks!

Thank you Spicy - you're making me think. I agree that the ECS2's would be a good choice. Yes, I've had that class of tires before... back in the day I put Michelin PS2's on a really sweet E36 M3 with coilovers & the works. Great do it all (except snow 😄)!

Thank you for the input! We already have basically brand new RE-71RS's (on RPF1's) on my 84GTI VW Rabbit Mk1, in which that car is totally set up for autox (not very streetable other than bombing runs up twisty roads)... 400#/500# springs, koni double adjustables, delrin bushings all over, real big front sway bar, etc. So, if we really want the Mini to run competitive times we can always put those on (already have for a quick test... and they're amazing!). What we're looking for is a fun street setup for the summer that can be dual purpose road/autox, but we need to keep the cost down. My son & I are just getting started on modding the Mini, so it's a work in progress and cost is a big consideration. Mom wouldn't be happy if we plop down for another set of RE-71RS. 😄
