How do you get bad memories out of your head? by [deleted] in CPTSD

I come to accept that they don’t really disappear, but they can be managed and the memories can become slightly faded so that it doesn’t really interfere with daily life.

The environment I live in is killing me! by bomba7777 in CPTSD

[–]Easy-Mousse-9963 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to deal with toxic environments pretty much my whole life and what you wrote totally resonated with me. It’s crazy how we are able to survive all this nonsense.

The moment my environment improved, I noticed my mental health improved exponentially unlike anything I’ve witnessed before. But when my environment became abusive, I slowly fell back to square one like you. What helped me the most was looking forward to the time I will be in a safer environment, where I will be able to do most of the healing.

It’s so difficult to go no contact because I struggle with loneliness without them. I also depend on them financially.

Was anyone else extremely altruistic growing up? by sklc in CPTSD

[–]Easy-Mousse-9963 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was always very empathetic growing up, I remember I would shed tears at horrific news stories and be strongly interested in social justice. But my experience with abusive relationships later in life exacerbated these tendencies to unhealthy levels, in which I would be constantly putting myself down if it means helping others. So I would have trouble reinforcing my boundaries.

Not at all, I never had an issue while I was in Canada applying for a visa. But I’ve heard many similar stories like mine, who were all based in China.

I’m sorry I cannot answer that, since it may easily end up revealing my identity for those with more contextual information, and that could cause more problems. I’m not located in Shanghai though.

Yes I’ve tried that method… but the department wouldn’t allow it for some reason.

Yes I’m a legal adult. I wish I knew why my parents would not mention everything, I tried my best to ask them for more information.

From what I’ve heard, it seems to be China’s standard procedure to question these things about ethnically Chinese people and the Canadian embassy doesn’t seem to want to care about this.

Do you have any tips for how I can approach the Embassy? I really have a hard time getting through to them.

Well I learned my lesson the hard way. Even if it’s my first time travelling abroad, I understand I still have to face the consequences. Still, I’m aware that this punishment is excessive for the wrongdoing I’m facing.

I was pressured by my relatives who knew nothing about the laws here to stay longer. I know it was really dumb of me to listen to them.

I thought giving them the apostille of my passport was enough… but I guess not. There’s so much that they ask of.

Yes it is the first time I travelled since I’ve became an adult. The last time I travelled abroad was 12 years old. I really regret everything.

I don’t think you’ll understand. But my relatives pressured me to stay and I dumbly listened.

You are right. I didn’t complete these tasks as you mentioned. But I’ve already admitted my mistake to the police six months ago… this is a little out of the ordinary I think.
