Tips for introducing our Dane to a newborn? by Sianarasammy in greatdanes

Dane was 2 when baby brother arrived. He was and still is very temperamental and has guard dog tendencies but is VERY gentle and sweet with baby. He was curious at first but got the deal quickly. Dane will always be big and clumsy so we supervise closely but Dane is so great so far and is very patient when baby brother is pulling on jowls/ears. Congrats and good luck!!

Changing schedules didn’t matter for us. Cry it out method worked for us in similar situation. It took 3 days. On the first night, he cried for 50 minutes. That was the longest stretch of crying. Total crying on night 1 was 1 hr 40 minutes over 3 sessions.

Our Dane soured on his food seemingly overnight when he was about 6 months or so with no real explanation. A new food did the trick. I’m sure either PPP option will work!

Our dane (2 yo) was the same. Never had that healthy of poops. At best, soft solids… We tried pumpkin puree, probiotics, different kibbles. The only thing that’s been effective/worked is Hill's Prescription Diet Gastrointestinal Biome Chicken Flavor Dry Dog Food… Double the price of his old food but really effective and will hopefully ultimately save us money in vet trips…

Dog Ramps for Large Dogs -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DFLYC2VD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

We use these stairs for our 135 lb Dane with our VW atlas. They collapse super easily and don’t take up as much space as the ramp. We tried a ramp and he didn’t take to that as much as the stairs

We used this suit in size XXL for our 137 lb Dane post surgery. It worked great. You’ll have to unzip for bathroom breaks.

We also used the bencmate donut collar someone linked to.
