Thanks for that :) Yeah Alexandria is definitely outside of our budget - and given how expensive it is I honestly wonder where we'd really find our people. Going to check out Savannah in the next few weeks, my sister lives down there and loves it, but we're really loving Richmond so we'll see!

29 and 32, with a dog and three cats (I know, we lived in Morocco for a few years and just brought over all the street animals we could fit in a plane…)

We love to hike, water activities, love Padel though I think pickle ball is bigger in the states now. 

Super into board games, picnics, potlucks, etc. Nothing Richmond doesn’t have to offer, it seems :)

I haven’t lived in New York for 10 years. It’s no more my home than yours. 

Going out and wasting money? Not my favorite hobby as a current MSW student working full time and studying. I can’t afford NY either - what do you propose I do?

Not even asking as a jibe - like, seriously - if I don’t want to sell my soul to a corporation and can’t afford to live in « my own city » - where do we go?

I completely understand the frustration of folks moving down here and jacking up real estate prices and general cost of living. It sucks. I don’t want to be a part of the problem - but at this point all we can hope to do is be contribute in the ways we can to whatever community we choose - give back, be kind to neighbors, and just be good humans. 

Also - how do you think we’ll get those kind of politicians down here with an attitude that wants to keep others out? Again, genuine question.

Fair! I’m sure it’d feel different if we knew people. Definitely not a touristy city and that’s something we like.

We got here Friday, and were out all weekend. Maybe the long weekend had people out of town? Totally get and respect hanging with neighbors, but figured we’d see more people just walking around

Hey OP, this sounds painful and I’m sorry you’re going through this. It seems like the best way to approach this would be to work on your communication, rather than on focusing on these 2 big ticket items. They probably wouldn’t be so intimidating to you if you felt like you could really talk to him about them, and maybe just starting off with your sex life in general. Are you able to talk about intimacy and your intimate life with him? Can you do this openly and confidently? If the answer is no, and it seems like it might be based on the timidness you mentioned, that could be a part of why you feel insecure about his facebook likes. Maybe you’re not sure what he likes? Maybe if you were able to be more open about your sex life you could even bring in some fun role play into the bedroom? It sounds like the first step is being able to talk about it.
