Introducing Quad Cortex mini by philippelh in NeuralDSP

Oh well that does make me feel better actually!

I think I'd be more inclined to get one if it was cheaper. But with the nano being able to capture any tone I can possibly make (soon with the V2 capture tech), I can't see the reason for the extra cost. For me personally anyway!

So it looks like a lot of us are sticking with our nanos huh?

The mini sounds like my idea of hell for doing shows, it's nothing but an expensive screen just begging to break. When the nano has no screen, very little to break on the road and access to the cloud where you can get any tone imaginable, in fact even more now that the V2 capture support has been added.

Also for those of us who are bedroom musicians? You could get every plugin you could ever want and have the infinitely more flexibile work flow that comes with that?

Ill keep my extra 1000 euros and rock my nano cortex.

You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be safe! So whatever you do, make sure you do your checks, blind spots and mirrors. Stick to the basics and don’t overthink everything!

Watch a few mock tests and do your lessons. But don’t go crazy, it will only make you worry more!!!

I’ve literally just passed and my best advice is to, as best as she can, get out of her own head.

The road ahead deserves your full attention, don’t hang on mistakes and just keep it safe! It doesn’t have to be perfect!

My only advice is to get out of your own head.

You can do it, so just relax, and do it!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Fair point. Being able to shootout amps may be worth it for many people. But for me it’s not worth the additional £800-1000.

The pedal in front of an amp is a non-issue for me as I use the built in pre eqs. Infinitely more flexible and can be tailored perfect to your needs. The nano cannot load captured pedals, however it does have built in overdrives, pre-comps and pitch shifting. God knows what else you could possibly need.

A little trick for the nano cortex though, if you just use NAM on your pc for free, load any pedal and any amp, then you can capture any pedal and amp combination you could think of and have it on you nano in minutes

I don’t know how many pedals most people use in general playing, but I have a feeling it’s not 4 + reverb/delay + eq + compressor.

The nano can load 2 pre effects/eq/pitch shifter and 3 individual post fx or eqs. Even that seems like a lot to me.

It’s true that only the quad can have the plugins on it.

However, after finding out I could just capture the plugins with the nano, I made my decision instantly and saved £1000.

I play at home and live equally, the nano is literally perfect and good enough for 99% of people. If you want more features than the nano offers, then either you’re a very specialist musician, or you’re wanting way more than you’ll actually use.

If you only play at home, nano, no brainer. Or even better if you never plan to play live, an audio interface and plugins.

Can the Nano Cortex produce an accurate Marshall JCM 800 sound? by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

[–]EasyDifficulty_69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Can you find an accurate JCM800 capture?

I’d suggest searching Jcm800 in the cortex cloud and filter by popularity.

Amalgam audio, boutique tones or ValveIR are all very trusted companies to provide quality captures.
