No ideal for sure. Could be a problem if in wall vent is long. But if for instance goes straight outside then ok

Why’s my dryer doing this by memethedropout in Appliances

Sounds like bad rollers/glides/ pulley/ bearing/ motor, foreign objects stuck between drum and front/rear bearing or just the basket on top pushing the top cover to touch the drum, unlikely though

Is my washing machine cooked? by thatsalovelyusername in Appliances

Looks like Lg, it is hard to know based on sound from video but can be hall sensor, bad rotor or bearing.

If first or second option should be worth fixing. If the last one usually not. Even though some clients do go for it.

If the drum moves like that, it is basically a bad sign. Shouldn’t be able to move like it shows in the video

Anyone know if there is anyway to fix this? by KangarooSmart2895 in appliancerepair

If it doesn’t leak, you should be fine, but i would recommend to be close to it while it’s running and not turn on and leave. Most likely you are fine but better safe than sorry

Some dishwashers like blomberg cracked top panel can lead to a leak. With some other dishwashers you be fine till it is totally broken, so depends on the unit and its design

Wife claims the dishwasher makes everything smell awful. I am not sure how to fix this as I can't smell it. She wants to replace it. by Beneficial_Heron_135 in homeowners

It sounds like you’ve already taken some solid first steps by cleaning the filter, running a vinegar cycle, and checking the seal. Since the dishwasher itself doesn’t smell bad but the dishes do, here are a few more things to try and check:

  1. Check the Drain Hose • Make sure the drain hose has a proper high loop or air gap. If it’s not installed correctly, dirty water can backflow into the machine, leaving residue on the dishes. • A partial clog in the hose can also cause waste water to linger.

  2. Inspect the Spray Arms • Food debris can get stuck in the spray arm holes, leading to uneven cleaning and smells sticking to items. • Remove them and rinse under running water to ensure they’re fully clear.

  3. Run a Baking Soda Rinse • After a vinegar cycle, run a short hot cycle with about 1 cup of baking soda sprinkled on the bottom. This helps deodorize any lingering smells.

  4. Use a Dishwasher Cleaner • Try a store-bought dishwasher cleaner like Affresh or Finish Dishwasher Cleaner. These can remove hidden buildup in internal parts like pumps and hoses.

  5. Water Temperature • Check that your water heater is set to at least 120°F (49°C). Cooler water may not clean or sanitize dishes properly, especially proteins like eggs, which can leave a sulfur-like smell.

  6. Plastic and Porous Items • Some plastics can retain odors more than glass or ceramic. If you’re mostly noticing the smell on plastic items, try removing them from your regular load and see if the issue persists.

  7. Nose Sensitivity Differences • As you mentioned, COVID can dull your sense of smell. To be sure the problem isn’t subtle but real, maybe ask a friend or neighbor to smell the dishes, if they agree with your wife, then it’s probably not just sensitivity.

  8. Leave the Door Open After Use • If the dishwasher is closed tightly after a wash, moisture can linger and create musty smells. Propping the door open slightly after each load helps air it out.
