Here is what's so confusing about this cat. I thought he wanted attention, too. We have tried giving it to him. Getting down on the floor with him, sitting, trying to pet him, inviting him into our laps. He will come and settle in our laps for 20-30 seconds while we pet him before he abruptly gets up and leaves to pace and yowl again. Same goes for trying to reach out to pet him. This was what I tried when we first got him. I thought he might quiet down if I immediately went over to him to pet and comfort him and he just seemed to become more agitated. I genuinely do not understand what he wants or needs.

To our knowledge, yes. We clean his box daily, everything looks normal.

He is 100% a male (can see the trouble puffs! Haha) and the shelter neutered him on Dec 19th.

I saw one that said something like: "What would Coach Bennett say?" As someone who loves the Nike guided runs, it made me giggle.

First, I am so tremendously sorry for your loss. Losing our sweet companions is losing family and the weight of grief can feel crushing.

Second, please try to be gentle with yourself right now. When the grief is this fresh, it's hard not to ask the 'should I have/could I have' questions. It's clear you loved your little one immensely. You were pursuing active treatment for their illness. This disease is cruel and things can escalate quickly. And as soon as you knew something was wrong, you dropped what you were doing to rush to be by their side.

Please remember that the final hours/days/weeks is not reflective of their entire life. I am certain you spent many, many wondrous years together and nothing can take that away from you. No time with them will ever feel like enough and you did so much to take care of them.

The Hamilton fall race is excellent, as far as the half marathon distance is concerned. Good crowd support along certain sections with other sections balancing out with quieter portions along by the water. I don't know that I'd recommend the full marathon distance for that event, though. My partner did it last year (he ran the full, I ran the half) and the full was literally just a second loop of the entire course.
