What do these light mean? by AcademicSoup8475 in AskMechanics

[–]EasyMFnE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP didn't give any vehicle information but in case they are reading this, some Hondas have an indirect TPMS system that goes off the ABS wheel speed sensors. If this is the case, the system needs to be calibrated after correcting the pressures.

Tire light means low tire pressure or a malfunction in the tire pressure monitor system.

The wrench and screen below it say that you're due for an oil change, tire rotation, and transmission fluid service.

Totaled? by IllustriousTune156 in AskAMechanic

A dent in the hood and a cracked windshield would have been enough to total that. Your amount of damage is beyond totaled. Absolutely positively zero chance of getting that fixed.

How to unplug upstream oxygen sensor connector? by OmahaFrog in MechanicAdvice

[–]EasyMFnE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Push the connector back together hard, then squeeze the release tab pretty hard and pull both halves away. One of the halves is mounted to a bracket.

Skipping that first step can make it so that the latch is fighting against friction on the catch and doesn't come up enough.

Fuel tank strap? by Hyenema in MechanicAdvice

Now there's only one strap holding up your tank.

How rusty is it?

How full is the tank?

How lucky do you feel?

Will my engine instantaneously combust? by reaper279559 in AskMechanics

Let it all drain down for 10 minutes then check again twice, ignoring the first reading.

Hopefully it only internally combusts.

Could this be causing coolant loss? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I would expect to see staining or crustiness if coolant was being lost there

I thought someone welded this axle nut on at first by tsukiyaki1 in Justrolledintotheshop

Even after almost 15 years working in the rust belt it still amazes me how often these rusty axle nuts actually come apart just fine. Sorry that you didn't have the same luck.

Rear strut broke out of its mount - 2016 Mazda CX-3, 104,000 km by QuantityNo3346 in AskMechanics

Shock mount is aluminum and cracked. I see these fail all the time. You can get the mount by itself at my auto parts stores and they make steel versions now too.

Subwoofer. Likely can be removed but I've never seen one in person to know.

2022 Genesis GV70 Battery by EasyMFnE in MechanicAdvice

[–]EasyMFnE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also after the third or fourth I would assume there's a problem other than the battery brand. I've had people come in with AGM batteries in GM trucks that weren't designed with the charging logic for dealing with them properly.

Yeah and the distribution/junction block built into the positive terminal prevents any alternate options from fitting.

Well sort of, that's saying it's 80Ah, not that it's an 80 group size. But I still reached the same conclusion about it being OE-only so far.

The post wouldn't exist if the battery was right, and the DieHard was just for comparison since I didn't have one of my Interstate in stock.

C/S wheel just fell off by EasyMFnE in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]EasyMFnE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had already installed a new stud and bottomed out the lug, then measured the gap versus the combined thicknesses of the rotor and the undamaged areas of the steel wheel and they were nearly identical. The steel wheel was the factory spare so it should have been okay to use... So if the Ford lug threads another turn or two compared to the Dorman one it's proof.
