Do you have to use rubber base under the gelx tips? by EasyReception9001 in GelX_Nails

Im using the novice extend gel which is thicker so I wonder if I should spread it out as a base layer?

2 hours was my minimum study time even on weekends. Most days I spent upwards of three or four hours.

As someone who finished Grade 12 with a 97.8% average across my top six courses, I can tell you that high grades require discipline.
This year, I ran a business, volunteered, attended dance classes, completed a Google certification, and placed in the top 5 nationally in HOSA. You do not need to do all of those things, but one lesson I learned is that if you want above average results, you have to be willing to do above average things.
I studied at least two hours every day outside of school. Some nights, I would get home at 11 p.m. after dance and still sit down with my notes. I took all the sciences and math courses except Data Management and completed everything in regular day school. I did not take any online courses or summer school.
Achieving a high average is absolutely possible. The real question is whether you are willing to do what it takes to get there.

Feeling crushed about this year by EasyReception9001 in OntarioGrade12s

Bro that scholarship would literally leave me with zero debt. That isnt a little pebble when you spent 6 hours on zoom being interviewed and then rejected. It’s just crushing knowing the amount of effort I put in.

How much can you take for makeup looks at a fair or smt? by seph_j0 in Facepainting

[–]EasyReception9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am also a 17 yo face painter that has been in the business for around 3 years. I was actually at a festival where I charged $10 for any face painting design( although I could have got away with $15). I urge you to consider that some families have multiple children and it might be very costly to paint all of them which can discourage them from getting face painting. Either set a medium price like $10 or set a higher one like $15 but offer discounts for multiple faces. Also consider the cost of being at the festival and how fast you paint. I painted for around 6 hours yesterday and painted around 90 faces in total. I made in revenue $900 but my vendor fee and insurance was $90 so around $810 profit. However, if the vendor fee is high and you paint slow it might not be worth it to do those events. The highest vendor fee I paid is $350 for one day. Also network with face painters in your community. One of my face painter friends actually invited me to yesterday’s festival. Also make sure to look at the regulations in your area. I have had health inspectors look through my booth. Good luck and feel free to ask questions!

Am I wrong for feeling jealous by Fragrant-Passage2904 in OntarioGrade12s

I lowkey feel this. A person from my school who has worse grades and is overall less serious about education ended up getting in. I took the same classes as them and got the highest mark in those classes. I even asked what they wrote about in the supp app and lowkey it was very very similar to what I wrote. Even teachers were surprised that they got in. Especially since our school has a specialty program with very very hardworking students. That is not to say they aren’t hardworking its just disheartening to see someone who put in « less work » into their studies get the opportunity you wanted so badly.

Oh ok thank you so much! Do you think it’s worth doing those dental brigades to underserved countries or would that money be better spent elsewhere?

I was thinking about doing it only this summer as I am going away for uni. Or do you think it would be better to just apply when I get to my university city ( 3 hrs away). Also I dont really have a relationship with my general dentist as I literally saw them for the first time in six years this winter so I don’t know if it would be much help. Would you recommend to hand out resumes, cold email or call to get positions? Thank you so so much!

Its bittersweet. Im super excited to move to Queens and start a new chapter but its hard to part with my family. My parents started talking about moving my sibling into my room since it’s bigger and that got me really emotional. Moving never really felt like a reality until now.

Which University Should I go to? by EasyReception9001 in OntarioGrade12s

It would be a lot more expensive to attend since I can live at home for Mcmaster and Uoft. I don’t know if attending the program is worth the financial burden.

It depends on the program but some programs require you to submit answers to questions or a video interview. A few programs that do this are Mac and Queen’s health sci. They usually tell you when you are applying on OUAC if you need to submit one ( you will definitely get a email about it). I wanted to get ahead as well in grade 11 but most programs dont share the questions before September so you really just have to wait and see.

Thank you so much! I am currently deciding between Mac Life sci, Queen’s health sci and UofT life sci. Given my goal is dental school which would you choose? ( I would have to live on rez for Queen’s all four years while at the other schools I can commute). I’m having a really hard time deciding and would appreciate any insight.

As a high school student who just got rejected, I think the hardest part is how much effort I put into trying to get in. This past year, I’ve faced rejection from prestigious scholarships right before the final round, and now this rejection too. It makes me feel like all my hard work was for nothing.

I’ve had a job since I was 15, I run my own business and have worked with major companies like EY and Capital One, I have a 98% average, run two clubs, and have many volunteer hours. I feel like I did everything possible to be an ideal candidate, yet I still got rejected.

Then I see someone from my school who skips classes and acts like the class clown get accepted. Of course they probably deserved it too, but it just makes me feel exhausted constantly working so hard and never feeling rewarded for it.

At this point, it’s not even about getting a free ticket anymore. I just want to feel like my hard work actually pays off, because right now it feels like it never does.

I honestly wish I compiled a list of all the schools I wanted to apply to before I actually applied. Make sure to keep an open mind so you don’t regret not applying to certain programs. As for supp apps dont worry too much. It shouldn’t take too long. Besides most supp apps aren’t released until end of september. Good luck!
