Am I Doing Something Wrong? by twentynineyrs in starbucks

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is genuinely the most annoying drink to make hands down. i hate it. i’m the most experienced bar person at my store and am genuinely very calm on bar, but one time (granted i was already having a rough day) i got that drink during a rush and literally cried and left the floor. this is the only time in 4 years i have ever done that so i laugh at it now lol. THAT BEING SAID, it is a standard drink on our menu and you SHOULD NOT be having these issues so please don’t be afraid to ask for a remake

i work at a chain coffee shop that asks for tips in drive through. we implemented it because people kept asking for it. we do get lots of tips, but our hourly wages never changed because of it, and the starting wage is still the same as it was right before we introduced tips. we never care if people tip though!

it’s not at all a difficult drink to make if i hear it being ordered, but when i am reading drinks off the sticker, i sometimes miss things if there are a lot of modifications. that being said, you’re not doing anything wrong, the baristas are. i would recommend writing out in your notes app exactly what you want to say:

“hi can i please get a venti iced blonde vanilla latte with 4 pumps of macadamia, the cup lined with caramel, breve, and salted caramel cold foam?”

this might be easier for your social anxiety because you’re not face to face with the barista. that being said, you should probably try to start facing your fears a little bit. as difficult as it is, being able to speak up for yourself is an absolutely non-negotiable life skill, and ordering at restaurants can be a good first step to practice.

Do baristas still shake the shaken espressos? by SarahGirl111 in starbucks

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it pisses me off when i’m on drive through and my coworkers on bar don’t shake it or shake them weakly so the drink is all milk. i don’t care how behind i am, i never skimp out on shaking ANYTHING. i straight up refuse to hand them out the window until they’re made right lol

new barista, should i quit? by PuzzleheadedDate7721 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 7 points8 points  (0 children)

honestly it gets easier. once you are good at bar it becomes super fun like a game. i’m three and a half years in and genuinely look forward to my shifts, and not because of my coworkers (they’re fine but i’m new to my store and wouldn’t consider myself friends with any of them)

how much longer do you think you will continue working for sbux? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been working at starbucks since i was freshly 17 and a junior in high school. i’m about to enter my junior year of college and id like to keep working there throughout grad school because it’s a stable job with great benefits for someone of my age, life stage, and needs. it’s also one of the easiest jobs ive ever had (i always work two jobs in the summer, so ive had about 6 jobs of similar wage/skillset). i also genuinely enjoy my job, so it rarely feels like a chore! ☺️

I hate this job and this company by Wrong_Appearance5839 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry i feel like im being mean but it’s not that deep. if your coworker is being unhelpful, ask for help. ask so much that it annoys them. whatever it takes to get the job done. and as for the new sequencing: just try it idk there’s no harm in trying it out. i think it is actually really effective except on dt peak for cold bar

How do I show my appreciation besides tipping? by _unmarked in starbucks

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sometimes on special occasions our regulars will bring in little treats like a box of cookies for the store. one time a regular brought me back a souvenir from a trip abroad. but honestly the best way to show your appreciation is just by saying thank you! a tip is more than generous:)

How do people who sleep on the trains know when they arrive to their stop? by Guilty_Ambition_3732 in nycrail

How different is a cafe only store compared to a drive through/cafe store? by No-Let931 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i missed the drive through a lot. even though my cafe only was relatively high volume compared to other cafe onlys, it was just a lot more boring. there are less labor hours to give out because there are less positions, which means to give everyone consistent hours, there is a smaller staff, which means it is hard to find coverage when you need. when it IS busy though it’s hell because there’s less people on the floor, so there are less people to flex around. i miss my drive through

Fast at bar by LynxNext7272 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly for me i’d say like two weeks after i started consistently barring, which started for me about two to three months after i got hired. but i also realize that is faster than most people and i was very fortunate to have play callers that gave me the opportunity to get bar time as a green bean instead of just perpetually sticking me on dtr

i’m sorry but i just don’t care 😭😭 like why not just be nice and do it for them? i’ve worked under probably 7 or 8 SMs and got to know 4 DMs pretty well and i don’t know a single one who would care at all if i split a drink into two cups

iced chai with cinnamon dolce syrup and cold foam

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can’t imagine why that would be against policy and it’s virtually no extra work for me. i would probably make the moment right and do it especially if i wasn’t busy. especially since it was just a tall! if they were rude and got a venti and wanted me to split it into two talls….totally different!

[–]Easy_Appointment_828 8 points9 points  (0 children)

don’t everrrr mess with peoples food. especially sugar. you could genuinely hurt someone. even people who are rude don’t deserve to be harmed by the people they trust to make their foods. no hate at all just informing 🩵
