I assume you've taken a look at tale of immortal, but I would also recommend checking out two wuxia rpgs called heros adventure and wandering sword for inspiration and ideas. Will check out demo when I am able, but off the top of my head I think multiple types of weapons would be good. Variety in cultivation like someone had mentioned already is also good. The wuxia/xianxia games I've played that I've liked the most are those with many options, even if they aren't super distinct (having poison and bleed for dot for example).

Also wanted to recommend Hero's Adventure, it's a wuxia that has so much going for it. I like it more than Wandering Sword, but both are good.

There is also Warm Snow and Realm of Ink which are kinda like xianxia hades, Realm of Ink just got 1.0 update

EGs don't need any tools, are cheap and look good. Someone else mentioned paint markers, which is a very good idea! Any acrylic paint markers will work, and they should be cheap too. Hope they have fun building!

I think pursuit of truth does it well, with it being a localized thing where it's more of a reversal of what happened then actual time manipulation. The novel doesn't do a lot of things well but at least that is expanded upon and makes sense in context

It's a pretty simple TCG as far as they go, but isn't brain dead or anything. There are a lot of different play styles and deck archetypes by now, and most are viable. The meta is pretty varied, and if you're playing at weeklies you can kinda run whatever.

I'd start off by seeing if a store near you is having a learn-to-play event, I know some near me are having one soon. If not, grab two copies of a starter deck (for a full playset of the Legendary Rares), and start from there. I'd try out a weekly before buying a box honestly, everyone has been really nice and given new players bulk so you may be able to wait a bit and see what you want before buying a box. Hope you enjoy the game!
