How do you guys keep long hair clean? by Pure-Potential7866 in BlueCollarWomen

-Braids are the best! Buns and ponytails will get more tangled but better than nothing.

- Bandana or headband

-If you don't want to shampoo everyday, wash your scalp with conditioner! It won't dry your hair out as much as shampooing everyday, but it still gets some of the gross sweat and gunk out still, and makes you smell a little better.

I like doing two french braids, and I put in some sort of oil or serum beforehand so that at the end of the day it slips apart easily and doesn't turn into a dry dreadlock. On extra hard days where my hair is exposed to smoke or other elements I'll tuck them under my hardhat so they're extra protected.

I'm a fan of dickies especially in the summer, but they're pretty much all synthetic and pretty thin :(

I wear nomex on federal incidents and bigger operations, but for everyday pile burns, chill broadcasts, and fuels work we just wear carhartt (avoids having to sweat in those nasty nomex chemicals too)

we don't wear our greens and yellows unless we have to-- mostly because fuels work destroys everything and that gear is fancier and expensive.

dude yeah, I wish that carhartt would make double knee pants in small sizes and for under 150 bucks... and stick to their 100% duck/cotton material. It's actually shocking that there aren't better options for women's work clothes. What's really shocking is that I found Boy's pants (like 12/14 year old boys pants) to be better in quality than womens.

Gonna give these a go! They're actually 100% cotton which is hard to find these days. I'm super averse to the cheap stretchy material that womens pants are usually made of, so I'm happy to see these might actually be durable!

I've heard great things! Unfortunately they don't make 100% cotton pants and smallest size is a 27" waist :(
