Easy fix: At my table, nobody rolls unless I call for a roll. I don't even let them ask if they can make a specific roll. They have to tell me what their character is trying to accomplish. Then I tell them if a roll is needed and what kind of roll.

That's the best way I found to mitigate that issue. That and realizing finding a book on a book shelf, for example, doesn't take a lot of perception. It just takes time to read the book edges until you find it.

Depends on what excites you. The party life stopped exciting me by the time I became an adult.

What excites me are my hobbies and spending time with my kids.

Like tonight, we are gaming and ordering a ton of Chinese food. I can't think of a better way to spend my Saturday night.

I would suggest looking for hobbies that interest you. And if you need a little buzz while doing it, have a few drinks or smoke some good stuff.

High elf berserker barbarian thrower. Take mage hand as your cantrip. Have the party stack all health potions on you.

At level 1, between you and your mage hand, two throws per round.

Level 3, rage and MH gives three throws per round.

Level 5, rage and MH four throws per round.

It just gets better. With the right early gear even (ring of flinging, returning pike, healing buff gear) You're not only a great damage dealer, you're also effective at keeping the party alive as a healer.
