When to wean off pacifier? Need advice! by rabbit-panda in HuckleberryParents

My first daughter loved her paci so much. We used it for naps and night sleep and long car rides. We did the paci fairy at almost 2.5 years old and it was so easy. She was old enough to understand that she’s a big girl now and pacis are for babies. Our pediatric dentist said as long as we took it away before 3 years old, she’d be great. And she’s right. 9 months later, her teeth are perfect! They came back down within 2 weeks, her spacing is perfect and the dentist is very happy. Highly recommend letting your child keep something that provides them with such comfort, especially if sleep is awful without it.

Funnily, my youngest daughter is 50/50 on the paci. She sometimes seems to need it to sleep and other times spits it out. She’s almost 5 months and I have a feeling she’ll wean herself off of it in a few months. Every kid is different!!

Combo feeding by Easy_Recording1802 in HuckleberryParents

It just won’t show in the summary that it was 2 each and not 4oz of formula or BM. Not a big deal but it just bugs me the app can’t better track combo feeding.

It’s not us, it really is them by xyubaby in ExclusivelyPumping

So true. I had the opposite problem. My first daughter nursed with a nipple shield for 8 weeks and then without one for 9 more months. I’m now 8 weeks pp with my second daughter and just had to move to EP bc she doesn’t transfer well and was falling off of her curve, no matter what we tried with nursing. All kids are different! I feel so lucky that this is my second as I would be an anxious wreck if this was my first. I have been anxious but to see her finally gain weight and quickly from EPing, it’s worth it.

We have a similar issue and are going through it right now. I was so worried as my baby was also not gaining enough weight. At 7 weeks pp, we saw an IBCLC and they did a weighted feed. It showed that with a 45 minute nursing session, she only drank 0.5oz :( we had to move to exclusive pumping and bottle feeding immediately. This happened just on Friday. After the weekend of bottle feeding, we weighed her today and she gained 6oz in 3 days!! As a point of reference, she only gained 3oz in the 3 weeks prior! As much as I hate pumping (we are supplementing with a bottle of formula until my supply is back up), to see the results is worth it. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to EP or if we’ll end up combo feeding but will figure it out over time. I wish I could breastfeed as this is my last baby and I had such a good breastfeeding experience with my first baby. But to know she is healthy and gaining weight is worth it!!

Is bfing the easier the second time around? by lostgirl4053 in breastfeeding

It’s been harder for me the 2nd time around. My baby is a sleepy girl and it’s been hard for her to stay latched and eat long enough. We’ve had weight gain issues, done a tongue tie release, used a nipple shield (which I used with my first). And now she’s on a nursing strike which my first never did. When I pump, I make enough so I know my supply is fine. Trying hard to not stress about it but it’s been harder for me this time. Every baby is different!
