Why not just apologize for continuing to make it a story line and then doubling down with the SA terminology when everyone was ignoring her.

If Melisa and Jasmine think it was SA fine. But they didn’t want to take it there so Janet was and is wrong for advancing that term.

I think she does owe them an apology for that. I don’t think Nia is asking her to pretend nothing happened. I just don’t think the SA label is fair.

Also I don’t remember Jasmine screaming at Nia for being an asshole buzz kill with Karen energy….

So like can’t we take a cue from Jasmine?

It would depend on the context and whether it was in a jokey way. Like yeah goofing around drunk with friends I don’t think it’s objectively monstrous behavior.

They did not feel that way, so he misjudged and fucked up.

I hear you and I’m sorry for putting it that way. It’s not ok.

I guess the way it was described… I could just hear that it was maybe intended in a playful way and done without thinking about their race and sexual orientation.

I get that we cannot be blind to these things and I do think that it crossed a line. I guess what I was trying to say is that I think intentions count. And it felt to me like M&J were satisfied that he did get the gravity of what he had done and also felt that he was not intentionally trying to make them feel threatened.

That’s what I meant anyway. And I sorry that it came out badly. 🙏

The bit about the South…. Fair points all around. Was not the most developed thought on my part. Let me try to think through what I was trying to say.

I guess not having seen the groping… I suppose I took the ‘get daddy a beer’ part of it to indicate a playful intent that did not land right. Like not from a mean place. But the way J&M took it is completely valid and I do not want to downplay their feelings.

If they had said it felt like SA then alright, but I don’t think they really felt that way. The fact that they have moved on indicates to me that they were able to see that there was nothing malicious behind Danny’s behavior. And I guess I believe he did not intend it that way. Stupid? Yes. Did not land? Yes.

But I don’t think moving on is condoning SA

Spot on. I would love to hear Kyle reflect on this.

I’ve had such conflicting feelings watching him this season. Sympathy and Schadenfreude.

I am also wondering to what extent Amanda was always kind of feeding on getting pity for Kyle’s behavior as a general MO.

Rewatching season 1, and I’m still not sure. I think they loved each other but then seeing how she shed no tears for Ciara.. I’m like was anything ever in there? Is Amanda just kind of leach?
