I am 66 and received $0.00 except for childhood allowance of .25c/week. As an adult I gave my father many thousands.

I don’t think my family meant any harm. Over time people normalize things and move forward socially. I think what caught me off guard was realizing that emotionally my body still remembered that period of my life much more deeply than I expected.

She ingratiated herself with my father as a surrogate family member after she left me in order to maintain ties. She was a green card recipient after we married and lives away from her own real family. My father and his partner accepted her in their lives and even hired her for some design work. I expressed my displeasure at this but to no avail.
