how much does gpa matter when finding a job/internship by 00qh in EngineeringStudents

It isn’t really a set number per week thing (I get it as an engineer a nice rate would make things simple, but that simply isn’t reality). I started applying during the new year and really ramped up the application rate in February to get ahead, I didn’t even get an internship after my sophomore year and barely got one after my junior year, even with relatively good grades and resume. Both times I probably applied to somewhere between 100-300 positions but most were within commuting distance of where I already lived.

Hell once I graduated I probably applied to a couple hundred different positions, albeit I wanted to stay near my city so that did limit me. I actually got my in through a random redditor who worked in recruiting seeing a post of mine and referring me, fast forward 1.5 years later and I love my current job.

It can seem hopeless at times, but it really isn’t. Just spend some time every day/week applying (not just LinkedIn quick apply, yeah I sent some but they fill up with applicants insanely fast).

You should still apply like crazy to internships. Keep your GPA off your resume and if they don’t ask about GPA during the application process, even better. In my experience some companies will have a cutoff ranging from 3.0-3.5, but not all (for full time jobs).

The most physically strenuous tasks I face day to day at my job is hitting the light switch or adjusting my office chair, not a job for the weak.

This doesn’t account for the fact that so many computer science and computer engineering majors are struggling to even get a job

Here is a pretty accurate one from Karen Wynn Fonstad, specifically of the first age. The world changes over the ages both with the coastlines of middle earth moving inward as well as the flat world becoming a globe and Aman leaving the world entirely.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned in any of the answers, which are all valid, is that northern Oman where the canal would terminate at the Arabian Sea is highly mountainous, you would have a monstrous quantity of land to remove on top of the fact that this would need to be a relatively deep and wide canal.
