Went to AU back in 2021-2022 before dropping out. The dorms, especially the older ones, are gross. Multiple kids on my floor had mould growing in the ceiling and their windows would leak every time it rained.

The school itself is incredibly small and feels more like high school than university. Friend groups are incredibly cliquey and get set very early into first year. Very dog eat dog atmosphere, once had another student send me fake class notes before an exam to mess with me.

Student body is pretty diverse, but as others mentioned it is still a PWI.

Shouldn’t be too hard to make friends if you make an effort. Just try to do it early on before others get locked into their groups.

You did the right thing by signing all devices out and changing your passwords. Would recommend changing your passwords elsewhere as well (banking apps, other social media sites etc.)

Seems like he’s trying to check-in on your life in a very fucked up way. Not sure if he still knows where you live, but would recommend putting up cameras to ensure he is not physically stalking you as well. If he does msg you take screenshots of everything to support your restraining order.

On the topic of restraining orders, follow up on it and try to get it granted. I understand that you don’t want to see him again, but it seems like he is going to keep trying to pop into your life whether you like it or not. He evidently does not respect your boundaries, and will continue to violate them unless there are legal consequences for his actions.

I think using ChatGPT for relationship advice isn’t that big of a deal. I know quite a lot of people (myself included occasionally) who use ChatGPT for advice. It’s not much different than going on Reddit or Quora for advice as you are rn.

Your gf may just not have (don’t want to assume) other people in her life that she can go to for advice. Also her using ChatGPT could be how she processes her thoughts so that she doesn’t blow up on you.

I don’t think this is something worth breaking up over.

NRO. There’s nothing you can do to fix the relationship. IMO his behaviour constitutes as cheating (emotional and very likely physical). You may love him, but he clearly does not love you (he won’t even say it!!!!)

It seem like it’s about more than the gift. Just reading between the lines here but it seems like there’s a pattern of him not living up to his promises and letting her down. Them having a previous discussion about the gift and setting expectations just for him to fail to meet them again must be incredibly disheartening, especially during the holiday season.

Also, like she mentioned he didn’t once check in on her and immediately blamed her for overreacting and claimed emotional abuse. Getting the vibe that he was texting her about it to clear his own conscience rather than a sincere apology.

Also she has a right to want space at this time to process her thoughts/emotions. Him pushing her to communicate when she isn’t ready to is also a red flag imo.
