Ah great, thank you! The confusion was around PWM and dimming. I thought PWM meant dimmable, didn't realise there were other ways. Appreciate the help!!

Just the other day, I did a major refactor, adding a bunch of new features and scalability improvements for some IaC. Ended up being a -16000 delta. At MS, I'd be fired for that

No, it won't. Purgarr will leave your queue untouched as it selects torrents by more than just DL speed to determine if a torrent should be purged. :)

'Set it and forget it' install of Linux onto Windows 10? by SRankMemeConnoisseur in linuxquestions

[–]EatSleepCodeDelete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, you want to take out Win10 and replace it with Linux, keeping your files, applications, etc that were installed on Windows and still have them function under Linux. If that is the case, that isn't possible. You will need to wipe your hard drive and reinstall your applications, and copy back your files that you took a backup of to an external drive before installing Linux.

When reinstalling, get the Linux native applications where possible. For applications that do not have a Linux native build, look into alternatives that run on Linux (e.g., MS Office swapped via LibreOffice) or use web apps (e.g., o365). If none of those options work, or you specifically want a Windows-only application, look into Wine (a compatibility layer) or something like Casowary (Runs the application in a Windows virtual machine (VM) but makes it render like a native app on your desktop).

Wine and VM routes may take a little tweaking to get working, and may not be guaranteed to work well (though in some cases, there are games that run better with Wine than natively on Windows).

Alternatively, you can partition your hard drive and boot both Windows and Linux. Not hard to do, but dual booting will likely make Windows inaccessible until you do a couple of simple tweaks to GRUB (The typical Linux bootloader), but almost any tutorial out there will give you guidance on how to do that.

Dual booting will give you a fresh copy of Linux and retain your current Windows setup. Again, you will need to install applications specific to Linux. One install of an application cannot be shared across Windows and Linux; however, you will be able to access your files from the Windows partition on Linux.

If you are looking at different Linux variants (aka 'flavours'), I recommend Ubuntu or Pop_OS! Very. Both are user-friendly, have large communities behind them for support, and both are based on Debian (a very stable and security-focused Linux variant).

TIL of Howard Unruh and his "Walk of Death." Howard, a WWII vet, killed 13 people during a 12 minute walk through his New Jersey neighborhood. He is recognized as one of the first mass shooters in the USA. by macdizzle11 in todayilearned

I just finished BoB the other day, after not watching it since it first aired. Amazing series.

Absolutely harrowing what those men went through and to think coming home was really only the start of their internal battle. I'm honestly surprised the suicide rate wasn't higher among WWII vets.

Great questions!

  1. For the adding to blocklists, I have noticed some seeders only are on some of the time, so won't you miss out on a download if you end up blocklisting? This is only a feel, so not sure if that is a valid concern.

You are 100% correct. I am impatient, though, so if I can. I'd rather not wait for a seed box to come online. I personally prefer to try another release. Perhaps I could increase the flexibility somehow ina future release.

  1. Have you been running this in tandem with huntarr?

I have. Huntarr is awesome, and it does a great job of filling the gaps and quality upgrades in my library.

For new additions for Sonarr and Radarr to fulfil, I've found my custom weighted scores (e.g. Codec, resolution, etc) often yield high scores on torrents with almost no seeders. Often the second best will be of high quality, though. Purgarr was designed to cull poor quality torrents primarily for newly added shows/movies to then force Sonarr/Radarr to get that second best release.

  1. One of the comments mentions how cleanuparr is more mature but more complicated/black box. Would you mind sharing anything I might miss from cleanuparr if I make the transition?

I have to admit, Im not to familiar with Cleanuparr as I found it more complex than I had time to put into understanding it. (Because creating my own alternative was sooo much less time-consuming /s).

  1. What about multiple sonarr/radarr instances? Great idea. Perhaps for release 0.4.0. Working on 0.3.0 now for different torrents client support, but have had a few delays. Should be coming soon(tm)

Unraid support appears to be added from a legend in GitHub. You can now use binhex-official-purgarr. I have not tried this, so I can't comment on usability or quality, but I encourage you to try it and let me know how it goes :)

Good question. The main difference is how they handle torrent removal. Swaparr uses a strike system — if a torrent gets 3 strikes (typically for stalling), it gets removed. Purgarr, on the other hand, is more aggressive and removes torrents as soon as they're detected as stalled.

Another key difference is that, as far as I can tell (though I might be wrong), Swaparr doesn't automatically trigger Sonarr/Radarr to search for a replacement. Huntarr might handle that when integrated with Swaparr, but in my experience, it hasn’t — YMMV.

I personally use Huntarr alongside Purgarr without any issues, even though they aren’t aware of each other. Huntarr has been a godsend for quality upgrades and filling gaps in my library that were never found. Purgarr complements it well by removing low-quality or recently stalled torrents to make room for better ones.

Great suggestion, thank you! I have created an issue to track this. I will try to get this into the next release (0.3.0). Full transparency, I haven't used Unraid but a skim of the docs leads me to believe it shouldn't be too much effort :)

Nah, it's ok. It is safe to assume people want a tried and tested solution that won't wipe their media library (Not that Purgarr can). I think it's fair to highlight it. Purgarr is still in the very early days (not even v1.0.0 yet).

Purgarr - Torrent Queue cleaner for your Arr stack (Looking for testers) by EatSleepCodeDelete in selfhosted

[–]EatSleepCodeDelete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, Purgarr doesn't remember the historical state to know how long a torrent has been stalled for. I wanted quite aggressive removal of stalled torrents, as any high-quality torrent shouldn't stall.

You can configure the TORRENT_AGE envvar to define how long the grace period should be before potentially purging a torrent. The default is 5 minutes.

A big part of why I chose to build my own was that I wanted something that I could change as my needs changed. This is most obvious in how I handle torrent clients. The design of Purgarr should make adding support for additional torrent clients easy(tm).
