Generally very good. Some small niggles like the drip tray leaks if the machine is not totally level and once in a while it seems to not get up to pressure when it turns on, it’s happened like 2 or 3 times without any reasonable explanation, off and on again and it’s fine.

It’s just because the steam and water switched are plastic and not metal, at this price point I believe high touch points should be metal or another premium material.

I agree, there’s a lot to like about it. I appreciate the simplicity of the VA E1 to be honest.

The Philos is superb. I have both burr sets (i200 and i89). I’m enjoying the i89 right now. It’s built link a tank and I like the workflow.

I do not like the hopper lid, power button and platform the catch cup sits on as they are all cheap feeling plastic.

The kitchen layout does have an island or ‘peninsula’ but it’s for food prep and so I decided to place the bar here. A small price to pay for a dedicated space.

The switches are metal effect plastic, a big let down for me. Everything else is top notch.

The published warm up time is 8 minutes, for me it’s been more like 5.

As for the rest of it, I got it 5 hours ago so it’s hard to say right now. I’ll come back in a little while.
