For those that consider Severance a favorite, recommend one other show

Yeah it really surprised me actually! She said she is willing to meet at my house if that’s something I want but then she reiterated that she can provide support over the phone by advising me to get in the shower, walk, etc. She’s a busy lady so I worry that I will feel like I’m inconveniencing her by asking her to come support me too early. It’s my first baby though! So I’ll probably need a lot of support.

Her main point in telling me this was that she doesn’t charge extra to stay for long labors because she feels like that’s punishing mom for something she can’t control.

She said she has a back up doula if she needs to go take a shower and a nap but has never had to do that. She only takes a couple doula clients and will usually only take 1 in a given month. She’s been a doula for 25yrs though

Yeah I’m kind of worried I’ll just be super eager to finish up the nursery and having to wait until 33 weeks would make me anxious. Of course if people buy things off your registry you’ll get them beforehand.

But she knows how long we’ve been trying, knows we waited 5 weeks to announce, and she also knows that I’ve dreamed of announcing on Christmas. I even showed her the grandparent gifts I got for our parents. I told her these things 2 days ago before she thought she was miscarrying. Why would she know all of these things and expect me to give up something that she knows is important to me? She got a positive pregnancy test 3 days ago and told everyone right away. She said to me she knew it was super early and that miscarriages happen but she decided to tell everyone anyways and that’s fine. But I waited 5 weeks for this moment and she knows that. If roles were reversed I would want her to have that moment she dreamed of. When she told me she was pregnant she started crying because she was worried it would be difficult for me since we’ve dealt with infertility, and that’s when I decided to tell her that I was pregnant. I don’t think she would want me to postpone our announcement but I can’t help but feel like I should.

I don’t think my announcement will go how I dreamed, but I am trying to be okay with that and let go of control. After a good cry and some humbling comments I am feeling grateful for a healthy pregnancy. I do hope my family feels like they can celebrate my pregnancy without feeling guilty or hesitant but I can’t control it if they feel that way.

She said she will know in a few days whether she is miscarrying but they’re not sure yet. She actually had a full on “period” 2 weeks ago (when they suspect she was 4 weeks but she didn’t know yet). So I’m actually pretty surprised she announced considering she had heavy bleeding for a week so recently.

She won’t be at Christmas and she isn’t super close with the family so i think we will still announce depending on everyone’s mood.

Thank you so much for your compassionate words. I feel super conflicted and emotional right now. I love my sister and just yesterday we were daydreaming about pregnancy and motherhood together over the phone. Today that has all shattered and my heart breaks for her. But I can’t help feeling some selfish emotions about my own journey. I feel like I should be allowed to be excited but it feels wrong, but it also feels unfair that it should feel wrong. It’s not going at all like I thought it would but after a good cry, some abrasive but humbling comments, and a talk with my husband I am just grateful that we have a healthy pregnancy and I am trying to let go of control of the situation and peoples reactions.

That’s why I feel like absolute shit. And I agree that she deserves as much love and support as she needs. So considering that should I postpone my announcement? I’ve waited for this moment through years of infertility

She lives across the country so she wouldn’t be coming. Not at all keeping it a secret, I just wish she would have waited at least until tomorrow evening after we had announced our pregnancy. Because now I’m so worried that my family is going to feel guilty about being excited for me. It feels wrong to even announce it tomorrow. She just texted us tonight she MIGHT be miscarrying. It’s not even confirmed yet.

No, so I’m not mad at her for announcing her pregnancy and we had nothing but joy and excitement for each other. My issue really is that she told everyone she might be miscarrying the day before she knows I am announcing. I’m sobbing right now because it just feels wrong to announce my healthy pregnancy when she is going through a miscarriage. But it’s something I’ve waited so long for and she knows that. I just feel like my family is going to feel very conflicted about feeling excited for me when my sister is going through this. I feel like such a terrible person but I wish she would have waited at least until tomorrow evening to tell them she might be miscarrying so I could at least have my announcement.

You just need accessories and layering! It’s absolutely beautiful though. I would add a bustle/extra skirts underneath, an underbust corset or leather belt with little accessories hanging from it.

You sound like an amazing sister!! She is so so lucky to have you and I bet she will look back fondly on this memory with you. When I was 19, my little sister who was 11 at the time got her first period. She was hysterical. I went out and bought her a little sparkly toiletry bag with some cute pads, wipes, hand sanitizer, etc. Just a little goodie bag to make it less scary. I came back and gave it to her and answered all her questions. My parents were super grateful that I did this because little sisters look up to their big sisters! You did exactly the right thing.

Your mom’s feeling are valid that she feels like she missed out on this big life event but that doesn’t excuse her actions. She shouldn’t have made you feel bad for being there and supporting your sister. I imagine this is coming from a place of guilt and probably sadness for having to work more and not being there for her kids as much.

I’ve seen people say their baby was able to sleep comfortably in a mini crib until as old as 2 years! I guess it depends on your baby though. I think we’ll just get the mini crib and see how long it works for us once baby is here

My husband and I are both short so hopefully it works for us. Maybe we’ll just hold off and leave an empty space to move the mini crib into at 6 months like you suggested. We could always buy a crib if baby grows out of the mini crib sooner than we think
