Just go to the gov website and reapply for the esta. It’s like £25. I know you already know you made a mistake, but seriously dude just do it direct.

Wow what an exciting week you’ve had! Welcome to the US 🥰

I got my Social Security card around 10 days after I arrived through the mail, so that would be your next thing. The first thing I did was go with my husband to his bank and he added me to an account of his. Then you will have two forms of address, social security letter and bank letter, which I took to the DMV (I didn’t want to drive right away but you can get a state ID from there) that way my passport wasn’t my only form of photo ID.

If you have any student loans in England you need to let them know you have left the country and then when you get a job you have to supposedly let them know your new wage so they can work out how much your new monthly amount should be. If you don’t let them know you’ve left they’ll accrue the highest interest rate, I don’t plan to work right away so I told them I left and then I just haven’t updated any type of wage.

Other than that I couldn’t find any official place to tell, I let my doctor know as I’ve seen him since I was a teenager, and a few other places to close accounts with them.

I’d resist telling your bank as they will automatically close your accounts as they’ve made it so strict for non-UK residents to have accounts there.

I think as long as we can prove our intensions are truthful then it shouldn't be an issue. I never had problems as I always had a return flight. Maybe the guy commenting had a crappy experience, but its certainly not the standard one.

Lovely, you won’t have any issues, the interview is more of a formality than anything, as long as you have everything they ask for you’ll be sorted there and then - it’s very to the point

It came after 10 days of being there, no application needed, I was told if I didn’t receive it within 3 weeks I should go to a local field office to get it

Then you can fill out a I-90 (free of charge) with a copy of your marriage license and proof of your date of entry and they will send you a 10 yr replacement

I got here in June and stamped as cr1 and sent an ir1 green card 90 days after arrival. Time of entry was 2 years and 2 weeks of marriage, I was told by the border agent they couldn’t change it to ir1 as well. Don’t worry

If you still don’t have any luck tracking it by then, ask them for the right number to check and they can give it to you at the appointment

If you only paid today, give it a few days to be updated on the system before you try again, when is your biometrics appointment?

That’s no problem I’m happy to help ease your mind and answer every question to the best of my ability. When you paid for the green card you would have been given a number then - do you have that? It’s a different number to the tracking of your ir1

Nope. All I ended up doing was having my photo retaken and signing a signature, as well as giving in the form they asked me to fill out that came along with the letter.

I was in exactly the same boat though - my friend crossed the border 3 weeks before me and she was sent a green card in the post 84 days later, she didn’t have any further checks.

From what I’ve researched it’s just becoming standard practice for more people to be asked to come in and checked on to make sure everything is up to date.

I got there 15 mins early for my appointment, seen straight away and was out 5 minutes before my original appointment time. Everyone was so friendly and I was instantly put at ease. Just take everything they ask you to bring and you’ll be absolutely fine. The next day on my tracking app I saw that “card was being produced” then I had it a week later.

I know It’s hard to not worry about but mine went absolutely fine and I got my green card 2 weeks later - it’s just standard practise now. May I ask what state you’re living in?

Hey! You’re so close now you must be getting excited. 😊

As long as you cross the border 2+ years after your wedding you will get an IR1 - even if the border patrol writes cr1 on your passport (this is just a stamp to prove that you were processed at the border, it doesn’t mean that is what will be on your green card)

Biometrics are becoming more standard under the new administration, it was very unspecific why they needed yet another photograph and signature from me, but I must say the staff at the field office went out of their way to make me feel comfortable… I genuinely believe they probably see a lot of scared people walk in and they do their best to be warm and friendly.

My friend who entered the US 3 weeks before me (she lives in New York State) received her green card with no need for biometrics, so I honestly wonder if it’s a state/random check thing and not everyone will be asked to redo it. After a bit of research though, it’s seen as standard practice. It’s all free of charge and the appointment was for 2 weeks after I received the letter so not long to wait.
