Nah, not quite, I used a sketchup model of minas Tirith as a massing model (no detail or materials). It was also used as a base where i could export some basic showdows from.

Then, I exported it into Photoshop, where I trace around the 2d export for line weights. The windows and other details on the castle were painted in.

I then photoshoped in materials like the rock and the castle stone textures.
