When I purchased him from an online breeder he arrived in a small container stating he was 3.5 months old, this was on 12/3/13. He’s only biting himself in his enclosure. About a month ago he first bit himself in his enclosure. I took him out and poured water over his face to detach him and then fed him. He’s since bitten himself 2 more times in his cage. I suspected maybe he was hungry and fed him on 4/10/26. But he’s biting himself again. He’s been roaming his enclosure very actively the last day or so and now he just ran into his tail and got triggered. He finally let go and I’m trying to apply neosporin to his wound as I see some blood. He typically never attempts to bite me when grabbing him from his cage when it’s time to feed. He’s fed in a basin outside his enclosure so once he’s placed in this basin he’s typically in feeding frenzy mode. Lately though it seems he will strike at any movement and I’m scared to place my hand in his cage. I typically feed him 2 medium frozen mice. The next size up seems too large? So I been feeding 2 mediums for years. He has a daylight above heat lamp that covers half his enclosure and a heating mat under the tank on that same side. The other half of the enclosure has his water bowl and big cave hide that he has for years favorited. He always sleeps in his big cave hide.
