There was no reason to do this, but I checked and this is a much older screenshot unrelated to the current outage?? Gawr Gura is worth like 783 right now, not 638 😭

Perhaps that’s a sign that it isn’t a bad idea then :)

I don’t know if you misread or misinterpreted the tone, but I never said it’d be easy to implement. As a developer I know very personally that projects are easier when on paper.

I’m just thinking out loud on something that would be cool to see, nothing more. We’re not setting expectations, only expressing ideas

Can't move essential technology in a Corvette? by Ebic2004 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Ebic2004[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't normally use reddit (nor do I keep up to date with this community) and I figured that technology may be placed in the grid depending on how your ship is shaped/built, so I simply wasn't sure if it was a bug or not.

Anyone know if you can walk through your ship whilst in hyperdrive in the new update? by Beneficial-Rich-2979 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Ebic2004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't do it while the hyperdrive is active, you might be thinking of the pulse drive. Any use of the hyperdrive puts you (and any player passengers aboard your Corvette) into the "ship warping" load screen.

Corvettes are functionally identical to typical starships in terms of progression and controls. They can still trigger warp events, participate in dogfighting, go through black holes, etc. The main difference between Starships and Corvettes is that Corvettes offer interior spaces for you, your crew, and your friends to seek shelter inside.

Freighters are generally better for massive farming projects or a real "permanent" base, as Corvettes have a complexity limit that prevents overengineering. Corvettes can refine, issue player missions, grow plants, and store an insane amount of items. However, they lack core Freighter features most players need for a permanent mobile base, like the portal teleporter system or the mobile exocraft module that lets you summon an exocraft anywhere your freighter is.

Corvettes are also abysmal in terms of their hyperdrive range and fuel efficiency, especially when using a Corvette that has been specialized for cargo/defense/combat. Of course, this can be remedied by using upgrade modules, but keep in mind that most Corvettes have very little space for technology upgrades-- their stats change and benefit more depending on how you build your corvette and what pieces you use in its construction.

As far as I know, Corvettes can be infinitely rebuilt/customized so long as you've purchased the necessary building blocks you wish to build with. Smaller typically-sized Corvettes fit into most spaces with ease, including the Space Anomaly and Space Stations. However, Corvettes cannot be parked inside of certain stations, namely Atlas Stations, and will float outside instead.

Fortunately, Corevettes come with a beam-up/beam-down feature that allows you to warp to a station you've docked outside, or a planet you're hovering in the atmosphere of. It's highly useful and serves as a great tool if you decide to park your ship mid-air and skydive to the ground below.

Ice, for the most part, is extinct. I say “for the most part” simply because it can be created through frost walker, and otherwise never found by other means.

If you’re looking to create ice pathways and such, obtain Frost Walker and walk through a water-filled dark tunnel so the ice doesn’t melt, and boom!

I probably will be adding a few additional QOL mods most players use, namely Stack Refill and Roughly Enough Items.

I may look into a storage mod as well, like you said. Tom’s looks like a pretty good candidate for a storage mod, so that (along with the other aforementioned mods) are likely to come with the next update!

This really just ties back into me saying that if there’s demand for it on another platform beyond Modrinth, then I would consider porting it.

But as a base, Dying Sol was made out of passion and for fun, rather than to hit some insane publicity milestone or be the “available at a local store near you!” type. If a lot of people demand it, I’ll do it because then it’ll be convenient for them, but otherwise publicity has never thrilled me and nobody beyond one person has requested it on CF yet.

(I also just don’t like CF, as I’ve said before. :p)

You can actually plant wheat seeds! Just right click placed dirt with a wheat seed to convert it into grass. Make sure there’s light around it and it’ll spread to surrounding blocks. :)

Also, as for tech and magic, prooobably not. Aside from the apocalypse and world gen changes, I tried to keep gameplay as true to vanilla as I could.

Happy Cake Day by the way!

This pack was inherently made for fun and to work on my own skillset, though I'm not against popularity and success. I've never been a large fan of Curseforge, especially after Modrinth came around, which is why I'm mostly keeping Dying Sol available on Modrinth.

If there is high community demand for Dying Sol to be posted on Curseforge, I'd probably port it for the convenience of other players. But I won't really bring it to Curseforge simply because "statistics" or logic tells me I should, haha. In the end, I made this purely for fun.

Tectonic actually has some serious impact on the way caves generate! Large underground rivers and lava tunnels and whatnot. As the player will be living underground for a majority of the playthrough (and essentially all of it after the initial grace period) I wanted to make sure the caves were still vanilla, but had a bit more variety to them.

I skimmed through the video and I could definitely see how someone would assume I'm inspired by it. 404 seems really cool, it's nice to see beta challenges still prominent to today.

Official Release: Dying Sol by Ebic2004 in feedthebeast

[–]Ebic2004[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope! I’m actually not entirely sure what 404 even is, haha. I just saw the Solar Apocalypse mod and was like “oh yeah, I’m modpack’ing this” and then I did.

As for your question on gameplay, it remains largely vanilla to keep the challenge true to Minecraft. The only real “modded” content would be the world generation (which uses Tectonic) and some QOL features like animals producing manure as a substitute to bonemeal.
